Re: A few questions and a tip concerning my upgrade from MX-16 to MX-18

@Stevo: Thanks for the suggestion on tlpui. It puts lots of very useful settings right at the fingertips. @JayM: I use Double Commander as a file manager, but the same thing occurs with Thunar. There is no specific fstab entry for the drive. It doesn't matter whether the drives auto-mount or not, al...

Re: How I recovered LiveUSB with persistence after broken kernel upgrade

This what I have now on MX-18.3: $ uname -a Linux mx1 4.19.0-5-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.37-2~mx17+1 (2019-05-15) x86_64 GNU/Linux As far as I know the kernel was never updated. Is this what came with 18.3 and, if so, is this the 'problem' kernel? FYI, everything seems to be working okay and I did do...

A few questions and a tip concerning my upgrade from MX-16 to MX-18

I finally decided to make the move to MX-18.3 from MX-16.1 on an oldish Clevo/Sager laptop. I put off the transition as long as possible because, well, everything was working so well with 16 that I didn't exactly feel compelled to make the change. I had 16 customized and optimized and tweaked to loo...

Re: Double Commander very slow

I use Double Commander 0.8.1 beta build 7950 with MX 16.1 and don't have any slowness. The only delay is when doing a thumbnail view with a large folder of images or videos. But I use other things for that, so not a problem here. I seem to remember reading something about the filetype icons affectin...

Update youtube-dl for MX 16.1 ?

Youtube-dl 2019-02-08 is currently broken for downloading youtube videos. Would if be possible to update the repo to the latest version (2019-04-30)?

Re: Rufus equivalent in MX?

I've been running a Samsung Fit 32GB low-profile USB-3.0 flash drive (no longer available :-( ) for over a year now, using it for a good 10-hours a day. It was formatted as FAT32 and the ISO installed to it with Rufus. Overall, it has been 100% reliable and is almost as fast as when I run MX without...

Re: Rufus equivalent in MX?

Thanks, @skidoo
Rufus works great, but it doesn't run under Linux. That functionality is what I'm trying to duplicate in MX so I don't have to boot Windows. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough.

Re: Rufus equivalent in MX?

Thanks for the tip on unetbootin. I'll look into it.

I prefer MX16 to 17 or 18 because it works with the Raleigh theme and I like the font rendering better (GTK >3.2 issues). I also had problems with my keyboard backlighting and default screen brightness.
