Re: Can't read CDs/DVDs, Chinese characters instead

Yes, this is my problem too. However, I don't get how to approach it. The guy's statement "after downloading from language support (in System settings) some extra packages" is not very helpful.
Any advice MX team?

Re: Can't read CDs/DVDs, Chinese characters instead

If your optical drive is giving trouble, likely it's dirty, I would try copying the CDs/DVDs (using dd or maybe ddrescue) to your disk, & loop mount them from there to see what you have in/on them. I hear what you say but why the content appears with Asian characters? why it works with windows?+ wh...

Can't read CDs/DVDs, Chinese characters instead

Hello everyone, I face a strange problem with multiple laptops (thinkpad t430, x301) and MX Linux 18.3. I came up across a bunch of my old CDs/DVDs. I want to revise them before throwing away. However, It often happens that the OS mounts a CD incorrectly and shows Chinese (?) characters as file name...

Years ago I removed the "Designed from Microsoft Windows XP" sticker from my laptop. I attached it to my kitchen waste bin.

Re: New User Here! What should I know?

I suggest opening a container of your favorite drink and reading the manual. It is easy reading and you will find useful information there although you're already an experience Linux user.

Re: Brave browser

Just for sake of my curiosity - how does Brave compare to Vivaldi/Chrome/Firefox with uBlock and ghostery plugins?

Re: Thank you MX Linux

Since we've been talking about some apparel, mugs etc. ... yesterday, I found "Powered by MX Linux" stickers on eBay. https://www.ebay.de/itm/Powered-by-MX-Linux-Metal-Decal-Sticker-Case-Computer-PC-Laptop-Badge/163701272812?hash=item261d5b30ec:g:osAAAOSwpcpc5THb Quite surprising that it comes from ...

Re: Thank you MX Linux

I would like to also add something on top - also big thanks to everyone who's been contributing to the MX Manual. Believe or not, I read it and found it extremely useful, especially for a windows refugee like myself.
