Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

Another curious DW review: "The best choice from MX Linux will be versions 17.1 and 18. Subsequent versions have worsened. Of these, 18.3 the most unsuccessful. This is the opinion of my hardware on an old 9 year old desktop. And I agree with my computer." I wonder why the reviewer said this: if the...

Re: 18.3 Manual updated 06014

Hi!
Maybe, in the new 4.3 section, about Office applications, also mention WPS (the only other office suite directly available in MX, via flatpak) and, eventually also abiword worprocessor?

Re: icwm configuration

hi! answers to your questions: has any one here used icewm ? Yes, all the time, in antiX. Very low RAM usage. I prefer JWM.... has any one managed to move the panel ? No, I never tried to do it... has any one managed to add to the tool bar ? Yes, all the time. how was this done ? As far as I know th...

Re: Do any of ya'll play the free Linux games?

I tested Steam when I installed Mx 18, many months ago and it ran just fine the game I tested ( I think it was the Doom demo), even on my very modest desktop... So I recommend Steam, if you want to play games in MX. If you are into board games and dig around the internet in general and Sourceforge i...

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles

I found 2 "precious" reviews (or reveiws) I have to share here: 1- "Works good. Tried out several non-systemd distros, MX is middle of the pack. Void and Devuan are better. However, came to complain about one thing: conky. Both antiX and MX put conky on the desktop by default. Who wants this monstro...

Re: How to add shortcut on taskbar

How do I add a shortcut to Firefox or any app to the taskbar or desktop. I tried one instruction from help files but it didn't work. To add a shortcut of any app that you have in the menu to your desktop: - click the menu -navigate the menu until you see the app you want to add to your desktop. -Le...

Re: antiX-19-b1-full and tsplash tests needed.

I just tested "splasht=f" on B1 32 bits on virtual box- the boot process looks way better for non techie users. Everything looks simpler. One of these options should be the standard for antiX 19... "splash=v" probably should be used only for debugging any problems. I know even when the system boots ...

Re: Anyone else think Gnome is useless?

I haven't really used Gnome in many, many years (I guess I used it when I tested ubuntu, in the long gone time it came in free cd-roms shipped to my home by canonical). But I believe it's a bit harsh to say it's "useless"- I tried via distrotest.net and it looks "cool", and also makes some sense to ...

Re: antiX-19-a2_x64.iso xdelta patch

Not sure if this is the right place to post about this but: Regarding wi-fi connection problems with connman: I've been using antiX19A2 via USB Live, but last week end did a frugal install with root and home persistence- every single time I turned my pc on, no wi-fi was detected. I realized that if ...

Re: Synaptic

hi. Maybe users should not drink "Jack Daniels" and post :-) If I had to guess I would say the user is asking why didn't MXinstaller automatically installed the new version? But people here should not have to guess what the question is... Tips for new users: please post a direct question, also suppl...
