Re: antiX19a2 (xfce, openbox and more?) personal project(s)/ test

Makes sense to wait for the next "alpha" or "beta".

For what it's worth, I did play around with the antix "alpha 1". It was solid.

Re: antiX19a2 (xfce, openbox and more?) personal project(s)/ test

Hi Manyroads, Though mostly a "lurker" on forums, I wanted to offer another vote of appreciation for your efforts. MX is a very special distribution, and one that would disappoint many of us if it went "systemd" only. In that case, for me anyway, it would likely be antix. As for XFCE, like you, I've...

Re: Last update: fontconfig 2.13, libfontconfig 2.11

bil, you're not the only one who noticed font changes after this upgrade. My system has libfontconfig1 rather than libfontconfig (not sure about the difference). All were upgraded to 1:2.13-05~mx17+1 Fonts have changed subtly. All are sharp and clear, which is the most important thing. But quite a j...

openresolv boot (and shutdown) error

My VPN suggested I install openresolv to replace resolvconf as resolvconf is said to have some bugs. I used the MX installer to install openresolv, which completed successfully. The script seems to have uninstalled resolvconf. It then prompted for a reboot. Now, at boot and shutdown error messages a...

Re: Recommendations: Helping older eyes

Excellent gerson.

After a week or so, if you disable redshift temporarily, you might be surprised to see how glaringly bright the screen looks without it.

Re: Recommendations: Helping older eyes

Hi Gerson, Geoclue is not installed by default. Redshift is trying to find your longitude and latitude. You should have a configuration file which exactly matches the one in oops's post 14: http://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=458861&sid=abf0493c99a063bda8c490ac012c7a03#p458861 ). Check to see i...

Re: Recommendations: Helping older eyes

Hi gerson,

Do you have a ~/.config/redshift.conf? If you have redshift and redshift-gtk installed correctly, there should be a menu option for "Redshift". Once launched, there should be a redshift icon in the panel status area. With the Papirus icons, it looks like a lightbulb.

Re: Recommendations: Helping older eyes

Working through all the suggestions. * Chrispop99, Zoom Page (Zoom Page WE) makes a huge difference. Right now I'm using the older version with Waterfox. How do you like the WE version? * Sunrat, the gtk-3.0 vertical slider tweak is great. Here are some points which may be of use to anyone else who ...

Recommendations: Helping older eyes

Looking for suggestions for theme/customizations/etc. to reduce eye-strain. Somehow Mint (up to 18.3) with Mate and the Mint X theme worked very well in this regard leading me to stay with Mint over many versions. With LM 19 it's time to look elsewhere, and so have been happily transitioning to MX 1...
