Replace keyboard driver

My system is sending wierd control characters that then screw it up. Often, they raise a terminal I can't kill and everything freezes until I ctrl-alt-backspace, although even that fails sometimes. I can even see a huge spiel of control characters printing when I shut down. I changed keyboards so th...

Install USB doesn't work

I tried making an install USB with the MX tool for Mint but it simply doesn't work. Yes, I verified the ISO. Does the MX tool only work well with an MX install?

gparted won't launch from the program list

Lately, gparted won't launch from the program list, but will launch from the terminal. Is there any reason for that difference?

Re: Firefox now "insecure" on Chase

Type about:config in the browser search window and right click anywhere to create the following new string general.useragent.override and gave it value of your choice..Here's one as an example. You could do a search for a Windows profile for example. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:56.0) Gecko/2...

Firefox now "insecure" on Chase

I've been using Firefox in MX for a year on my Chase bank site, and now it locks me out, saying to use a secure browser like Firefox. Idiots. They can't fathom that Linux is becoming popular. Anyway, is there a way around this? Can I spoof Msoft Firefox for Linux Firefox? Or spoof that I'm using Mso...

Can't get bluetooth to work

I have a small bluteooth usb that used to work in linux but now, no matter what I do it won't broadcast to my headphones when it did before. The headphones work fine on Android. Has something changed in MX? Bluetooth sets up okay and says it connects but the sound is still in my main speakers not in...

File Manager with Search

Is there a file manager equivalent to Thunar that has a good included search? I know you can convert Thunar to do that but when I do it doesn't work right. It doesn't seem to do embedded words, for instance, just the front word.

Re: What should I back up?

Well, nuts. Aptik looked like what I want. I installed it, and the GUI flashes for an instant then disappears. I know the base program is there since aptik runs from the command line, and again aptik-gtk starts from command but again, just flashes and disappears.

Re: What should I back up?

I'm actually not that interested in documents except for all my pdfs. I'm more interested in backing up all my programs since I'm on a slow connection and don't want to redownload all of them. I just want to know where the settings for them are and what locations they are in - and if copying them an...

What should I back up?

I'm backing up but besides my home directory (but not downloads) I'd like to backup all my programs and their settings. What other directories should I back up to do that? I see a lot in /usr/bin and a couple in /opt - anywhere else? And where are the settings? Also, can I restore these to a differe...
