Re: Duplicated Entries on Grub Screen (SOLVED)

There's an easy solution to this: Give control of GRUB to PCLinuxOS. Grub customizer works perfectly in PCLinuxOS. I find that in MX-Linux it always reports an error when you try to save the changes, and nothing gets changed. It's a shame, because the utilities in MX-Linux, plus a bit of hacking, al...

Re: HOW-TO: Sync Orage with your Google Calendar.

Thanks, your How-to works perfectly. I only have one question: How can I sync entries into Orage calendar back to the Google Calendar? greetz; Spidrena I think the answer was staring me in the face all along! I wish that some of Orage was better laid out. Anyway, when you create a new entry, there ...

Re: antiX-19-b1-full (64 and 32 bit) available

I've installed it 3 times (64-bit), mainly to experiment, but on the second install, it would not connect with my router. But first and third it did. Weird. I just accept that these things happen with newly-installed OS's and I don't worry too much unless it repeats the error on another install. Oth...

Re: What is the best dock to use with MX?

I use a second XFCE panel. The fact that you can add a drop down menu to Launcher, gives it an immediate practical advantage. I have the original panel at the bottom, and the extra one set to Autohide. In the unlikely event that I ever wanted to revert to mainly using Windows, I'd want it to be up t...

Re: Google Drive On MX?

I just tried odrive_0.2.2_amd64.deb — it seems to work OK. There's not much on its menu (to open your Google drive in a browser or open your file manager etc) and it only seems to allow for one Google Account. That said, it's free and dead easy to set up and use.

Re: Why XFCE?

For what is worth KDE is super fast on slackware because slackware is just superfast in general because it lacks all the hand holding bloat spaghetti code of Ubuntu. Only reason I am not using slackware right now is its last release was in 2016 and -current is not stable. KDE is fast enough, it's j...

Idea for Devs: Securing Guest ID etc

I made a kind of strange discovery by accident a few years back, and today I checked it still works. If the user can access the folder at ~/.config/xfce4 but cannot write to it, then they can still make changes to the desktop, which will be stored elsewhere. But next time they log in, the desktop wi...

Re: Why XFCE?

Why XFCE? ..... Why not? ..... Too many desktops have gone off the rails. KDE since version 4, and now Plasma 5, is full of features that I really don't use and get in the way. And yet it does not have ability to add drop-down menus to Panel Launchers. But with XFCE, entries on a panel launcher can ...

Re: My cat will get operated on tomorrow...

I'm 65 and never had a pet at home since I was a teenager and my mum had a bitch called Suzie who was such a funny dog. She was a Yorkshire Terrier with the attitude of a German Shepherd! Never had pets since until I met my girlfriend (now my wife) 3 years ago and she had 4 cats. Sadly, we've lost t...

Re: Who is using SSD's?

I have a mini-computer, home-made, which just about has physical space for a 2Tb SSD. And my cheap laptop took off like a rocket when I doubled the RAM from 2Gb to 4Gb and added a 240Gb SSD.

I've housed my 1Tb Seagate Hybrid Drive in a USB3 housing for backups.

All works wonderfully well.
