Re: MX will not load on start up

Please edit your last two posts using the pencil icon to wrap the information inside of code tags. Example: [ code]log file contents, configuration file contents and terminal text go here[/code ] to make it look like this, which is a lot easier to read for large amounts of text: 1. It really stands...

Re: MX will not load on start up

Posting the System specs will be hard to do because I cannot get to the terminal on that pc and I do not know them off hand. from within Mint would be better than nothing. At least we'd see what the computer, mobo, CPU, RAM and disks looked like. randall@randall-Dell-DM061:~$ inxi -Fxrz System: Hos...

Re: MX will not load on start up

You will need to post information regarding your system specs. My guess would have been that you installed mint after MX which often borks grub. Anyway inxi -Fxrz is probably your best bet for getting educated help.. Posting the System specs will be hard to do because I cannot get to the terminal o...

Re: MX will not load on start up

No I was not thinking that it was related to the Linux duel boot with mint as I seldom boot into it. This is the first time this has ever happened and what I have read from the link that you posted has not helped get any closer to a solution. I had problems getting my DVD to play movies using VLC an...

I have a duel boot system on my Desktop and when I went to boot into MX from the GRUB it is showing a black screen with a bunch of numbers with Errors. It is shows Root mx 17.1 contains UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY, file errors, media Error, media error <f> and many more that would take up much space he...

Re: USB with persistence upgrade question?

what remastering means or how to do it. You can find it under Menu=> MX Tools. Remastering takes your changes into the squashfs (you know, live usb is a compressed file system aka "squashed f s ..." So, your changes that you want to be permanent will be added into the squashed f. s. (like adding mo...

Re: USB with persistence upgrade question?

If you've been allowing upgrades to run all along and occasionally remastering you're already at 18.3. Quick System Info will show you the version of MX you have. If you haven't been allowing the upgrades to run, the issue will be that the sheer number of them will fill your rootfs and there may bn...

USB with persistence upgrade question?

I have a flash drive with MX 17 with persistence on it. I was wondering if I went through the normal procedure of updating it in the update manager if it would upgrade to MX 18 like my Desktop and laptop did or would there be any special consideration I need to think about before I attempt to do so ?
