Re: Input/output error mounting USB NTFS filesystem

You can check/fix ntfs partition with this command: sudo ntfsfix /dev/sdb1 You can also try mounting the partition with sudo. Besides, if you by chance had plugged the usb drive to Windows 10 machine, Windows might have altered the usb partition table. If you had not safely remove it, when you plugg...

Re: MX on iMac?

Thanks for the suggestions @truongtfg. As I mentioned in my earlier post, by using the Failsafe boot option (which includes nomodeset), I get further in the boot process. My bad, somehow I missed that line you wrote 9_9 . BTW, you can wait for several days (or 1-2 weeks) for the Kernel 5.3 to be av...

Re: MX on iMac?

The first step you can try to install MX-Linux is booting the Live-USB with Safe Video or Failsafe boot options during the boot screen (press F6). You can refer to MX 18 manual user, section 2.4.1 "The Black Screen", page 20 here https://mxlinux.org/manuals/ If you can install it successfu...

Re: Unable to play video in VLC media player

Recently my laptop and PC also have this issue, the sound is fine, but the video is black. What I did to fix it without disabling hardware acceleration was changing the Output option in Tools/Preferences/Videos from 'Automactic' to 'Xvideo output (XCB)', then reopen the file. Edit, Actually changing...

Re: How many of you need a 32 bit distro?

My only laptop is an old Thinkpad T43, and it can only run 32bit distro. So, a big thank to all the dev of MXLinux for still developing the 32bit edition. :linuxlove: :toast:

Re: Terminal Emulator Choices

I have just tried kitty, it looks fantastic, but the biggest "no no" for me is that it does not work with fcitx (as I need to type in Vietnamese a lot)

Re: LibreOffice recommends: Upgrade to LibO-6.2.6 or 6.3.0

As LibO 6.3.0 will be installed alongside LibO-6.2.6 instead of replacing/upgrading it, it is safe for you to try it out. Then if you see that the 6.3.0 version is good, you can uninstall the 6.2.0 later. Personally, I am using LibO-6.3.0 because I like to be on edge

Re: Kernel updates

If you are adventurous, you can install liquorix kernel, which is supposed to increase the responsiveness of the system (it is in the repo, in my case I install the 4.17 version). Besides, I also install xanmod kernel (not available in the kernel), which IMO is really good. But if you have a nvidia ...
