for simple audio recording I use BUTT although it is usually for connecting to an icecast stream I have used it as a recorder occasionally works in ALSA, Pulseaudio or JACK; records to mp3, Ogg, FLAC and more But i would usually want a bigger set of tools in JACK for mixing and DSP of mic, VOIP and...

Just remember kids... what goes up, must come down. I can remember when Ubuntu was on top... Mint... Manjaro... all of them have had their fun. I'm not sure any of the ratings hype really makes a huge difference. The product and the people are what really count. IMHO. :bagoverhead:
