Re: Has any one tried a HP 745 G3 AMD laptop for MX 17?

About 2 weeks ago I installed MX17 on an older Dell laptop with dedicated 512 MB nvidia quadro FX graphics and a 1920 x 1200 resolution. The machine originally had Windows8 on it, which I removed completely. The fonts for Windows8 were normal, everything was viewable, no problem using the machine at...

Re: Routers and Linux

I suppose it also depends on where you're located and what's available. We have a Fritzbox 7490 with full access via CP. Features include 2 USB 3 ports, 4x Gigabit LAN, Wifi everything including AC, Speed throtteling if you're into that, Phone & hardware/FAX support, Separate guest accounts for othe...

SOLVED / NOT FIXED - Re: Strange RAM / Conky / CPU Hardware Output

I did. No point in posting links about this, too many variations with reasons and no actual user fixes which can be applied manually. Apparently between 2017 and 2018 at least Chrome, Chromium, Opera, and Vivaldi were at some point affected by a memory leak issue which increased directly in ...

Re: Strange RAM / Conky / CPU Hardware Output

Boy, this is turning into more of an issue than I would have thought possible. I use GIMP so much (pretty much daily) that it's always open on one of my workspaces. After closing GIMP there was a difference, but just a 1% drop in RAM usage. Everything else remained the same. I had already disabled G...

Re: Strange RAM / Conky / CPU Hardware Output

Thanks. Yeah, I figured the same thing. Closed the browser and RAM usage immediately dropped down to only 14% use. Serious bummer, it's my favorite browser too. I don't have a lot of extensions but with some luck maybe just one of them is being a memory hog. I'll see if I can narrow it down some mor...

Re: Strange RAM / Conky / CPU Hardware Output

I did my last update a few days ago, have 3 waiting in the update manager right now, but nothing with conky in it. The RAM usage seem to increase almost like a leak that keeps getting bigger, just slowly more and more. Right now my RAM usage is 67% which is 6% higher than a few hours ago while nothi...

Re: MX Software inclusion

What I did was to install MX without knowing that language options were available during the start of the live session. At the time that this happened someone pointed out that the language problem could have been avoided altogether if I had only chosen the correct language right from the moment that...

Re: MX Software inclusion

I described exactly what happened. Find someoen else to pick on, Fehlix. I'm an experienced MX user with excellent language results after choosing a language via F2 during the start of installation, and I was able to compare those language results to the same condition on the same version of MX, but...

Best of both Worlds? ORAGE & WHAT TIME IS IT

I'm hoping that this wouldn't be too difficult to implement ... Orage has the ability to include custom background/foreground colors on the panel date & time. Thats awesome! What Time is it provides you with a perfectly translucent background, to work with existing panel transparency. That's awesome...

Appimage concerns

I haven't heard anything yet, perhaps because it's still too new, but I have siilar concerns about anything that comes from AppImage, which is IMO pretty much the same thing as the old 90s and later "Stand-Alone Software" for Windows. My concern is that when linux repositories begin providing or sha...
