Re: Touchpad
After trying four distros finally settled on Mint for this model laptop, clean install and even the two finger scrolling works. Haven't given up on MX, will try it again at a later date to see if anything has changed. Very happy with MX on the old laptop that is kept for projection duties.

Re: Touchpad
Checked the BIOS and it's up to date. Tried the latest Fedora and the touchpad doesn't work with that either. Seems like the multi-finger function touchpad is the problem, and there is no option in the BIOS as there has been in the past to change it from advanced to basic.

After a good experience with MX on my old Acer laptop I was really looking forward to putting it on my new Acer Aspire 5, but no go. The touchpad was not recognised and there were other niggles so had to go with Ubuntu Mate. There were installation errors with that too but I finished up with a funct...

After installing MX, the scrolling line on the right hand side of my old Acer laptop is working again after being non operational for years with Ubuntu. Another reason to not buy a new one!

After reading the review on Dedoimedo.com I downloaded the distro to try, and it is now happily running on my old seven year old Acer 5742 where it replaced Fedora. Ubuntu has been my main Linux distro for many years but I have to say that MX is on another level. Congratulations and thanks to the te...
