Re: Gnome-keyring - unlocked

whenever I booted this OS from a computer-off state the keyring was NOT unlocked automatically by my logging in. I believe I have got around the problem by changing my keyring password to blank This was the same for me, even though I don't auto login. I was not unduly troubled by it as I used firef...

Re: Recommendations on password manager

I use the password manager in Firefox which has always worked well for me. It's the only part of the Firefox browsers that the developers at Mozilla haven't broken yet. Fine if you will never leave your computer unattended - saved logins are readable to anyone who knows where to look in 'preference...

Re: Love MX but it freezes to often

I'm no expert but looks like you have not a got a swap partition. I had a similar freezing problem - I had a swap partition defined but it was not enabled enabling my swap partiton cured my freezing problem see https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?f=97&t=46039#p457249 ( you could install a conkey...

Re: Window buttons drag and drop

The one thing I would suggest would be to call the option in MX Tweak "Configure Window Buttons on Panel". I have to admit I never bothered to click on or even explore the Window Buttons because I thought it was referring to the Max/Min/Close buttons found in each window! +1 that ... I thought so t...

A cautionary tale ... "The video wars of 2027"

https://hacks.mozilla.org/2018/08/the-video-wars-of-2027/ This post imagines a dystopian future where only the rich can stream video to their homes, and the democratizing forces of the internet have crumbled under corruption and greed. The author reports back from a troubled future in the late 2020s...

Re: mx-17 freezing

Do you have a SWAP partition enabled? Please report anything you find Memtest showed no problems, but launching gParted showed that I had the 6GB partition which I had intended as the swap but it was not marked 'linux-swap' and so obviously was not enabled. I now have an enabled swap partition and ...

Re: mx-17 freezing

Do you have a SWAP partition enabled? . Run MemTest86 from the GRUB menu Yes, I installed with a swap partition 6GB if I remember correctly ( at work at moment), I don't remember doing anything to enable it, can I check? I will try memtest and the alternative imageviewer tonight I have bad problems...
