Re: LibreOffice Removal and Test Repo vs AppImage

@Stevo Thanks for the explanation. I'll try the AppImage. Right now the same version of LO is in the MX Test Repo and the Debian Backports. [Edit: So far, after a few minutes of testing, the AppImage for 6.1.5.2 work fine (basic still version). It was also easy to create a launcher in the Whisker me...

LibreOffice Removal and Test Repo vs AppImage [Solved]

My current version of LibreOffice is 6.0.1.1. I don't recall if I installed it from the Stable Repo or it came in via the MX Updater. I want to run LO 6.1.5 either by installing from the Test Repo or as an AppImage. I assume it is advisable to uninstall the old version of LO before installing the ne...

Re: Install Libre Office 6.1 ???

Re: Post #5 by Buck Fankers » Wed Feb 06, 2019 5:16 pm Buck, nice clear overview of the installation procedure. Also, thanks for mentioning advert-block. I'm not sure if it is redundant to a system that already runs uBlock Origen, but I installed it anyway. So far I think it stopped the intrusive au...

Re: I'm playing whack-a-mole with XFCE bugs - screensaver edition

Nothing forces you to use Xfce. There are many other possibilities in Package Installer and you can just log into the one you like instead. Not much snark in that helpful tidbit, eh? As a bystander I don't see snark in Jerry3904's comment. Section 6.3 of the Manual shows how to install and run an a...

Re: Searching & Converting PDF, DJVU documents using Thunar

Thanks for the tips, manyroads!

Thunar's "Configure custom actions..." is new to me. In your tutorial is there a reason why you didn't set Appearance Conditions to the following to limit the appearance of the action to pdf files?

Re: Searching & Converting PDF, DJVU documents using Thunar

Thank you very much, manyroads, for the useful, detailed and clear tutorial! I have a few questions/observations: 1. I used MXPI to download pdfsandwich and pdf2djvu together. The terminal responded with Suggested packages: graphicsmagick-dbg Recommended packages: edisplay Should I install those? (I...

Please do not use SanDisk Ultra Fit. :hitmyhead: They get very hot and they often don't boot (live or installed) unless you unplug and replug them. Other problems have been reported as well.
Now you tell me! I just bought one a few weeks ago. :duh:

I am a retired university professor and laboratory researcher in the area of physiology. My department was Mac oriented and I originally did my text writing on WriteNow. That was a well-designed, simple word processor! In those old days creating accurate and visually appealing graphs (figures) was a...

Re: Where is my grub installed?

Thanks! From your link it seems that it is better to embed GRUB if the BIOS is on another drive (as mine is).
