Re: Trouble with SDCard's, for RPi
I should mention that these are Verbatim cards that I have used previously, all bought from a reputable electronics firm - Jaycar Electronics. I also did the sha256sum mx23.1_rpi.img & the numbers were identical. The kernel panic says the following - I photographed & transcribed it: Failed t...

Trouble with SDCard's, for RPi
I've finally got around to attempting to upgrade my Pi-4 with the latest MX-23.1_rpi.img. Haven't done anything with the Pi's for quite some time apart from usage. So my old memory has me relearning things again. Anyway, I've used the following on an unused 16GB SDCard: sudo dd bs=4M if=mx23.1_rpi.i...

Re: Unleash the power of PDF4QT (open source PDF editor)
@handyOkular is pre-installed in MX 23 kDE. That size sounds about right. I just opened it, & was really surprised by how quickly it opened, like blink of the eye stuff. Then I opened a complex pdf copied from the Al Jazeera news website, & it again, opened instantly. I am impressed. Thanks...

Re: Unleash the power of PDF4QT (open source PDF editor)
Okular is open source with editing capability. It is a KDE app. I just did an apt install okular & it brings a lot of new files with it - 180 to be exact. I'm using Openbox on a converted Fluxbox install, so I've got a lot of KDE dependencies that need to be fed. Even so, the following quote is...

Re: Unleash the power of PDF4QT (open source PDF editor)
For anyone who does need to edit edit pdf's - Master PDF Editor 4 - is in the MX Package Installer. This is a closed source application. I am an enthusiast of open source solutions. PDF4QT is still under development, but as it is open source I think it is important to publicize it. I'm also an open...

Re: Where do I control all of the Power management in this release? [Solved]
Charlie Brown, thank you for that wealth of information & good advice. Yesterday after installing the xfce4-power-manager package & did spare a thought for that presentation mode that you mentioned. It kind of seemed obvious that it would be meant to halt all interruptions to the system's di...
