Re: Anyone buying the new Rpi 4?

@KBD, I was initially attracted by the low electricity usage. I think they "can" be a good NAS controller solution. Though I've found the 3B+ to be underpowered for my needs, it looks like the 4 really should be ideal. Beyond that, they are something that is cheap enough to buy, that runs on Linux t...

Re: Anyone buying the new Rpi 4?

I've recently bought my first pi's (2 x 3b+'s), & will definately be in for 2 of the new 4's, with 4GB RAM. :)

I answered a topic re. the dreaded "Best" video editing software

When I went to submit my post the thread seems to have dissapeared? Anyway, here's my answer anyway... I bought a drone towards the end of last year. It has an incredibly high quality video camera built in. (To the point that I'm astounded at the technology.) Anyway, I hadn't really done much with v...

Re: Openbox anyone?

I'm currently running three instances of Openbox & Tint2 on both MX & antiX (plus another on OpenBSD). They are all much the same setup that I've been running for many years now (all with the Worker file manager at their core). Initially on Arch, then on PC-BSD, OpenBSD, Manjaro, Artix & now the two...

Re: How do I make xrandr changes permanent?

Yeh. I know I've had trouble with the odd TV that has all of the right plugs, & says all of the right things in the manual, but they won't work on any form of Linux. I had to boot with Win7 for them to display.

Re: How do I make xrandr changes permanent?

OK, bark, thanks, now I know. Forgive me if I'm still getting you to repeat yourself? My thoughts go like this: If the monitor(s) are capable If your graphic card is capable If X.org is capable If the graphics driver is capable If xrandr (one way or another) is being given the correct command & it s...

Re: How do I make xrandr changes permanent?

Have you run the arandr GUI? (It probably won't make any difference if this is a bug caused by the sizes that you want to use). Personally I find it really easy to use, & it makes a little config & saves it for you if you choose to. As I mentioned earlier I use the line that it created in my ~/.conf...

Re: Microsoft would like to bring Edge to Linux

Your right about that. I too have noticed how the results of search engines have been continuing to deteriorate over time. My results these days are nowhere near as good as they were in times gone by. This is a VERY sad situation that is being imposed on the internet, & most users (especially the yo...
