Re: Kernel v 4.14

Hello Stevo, 4.14 and 4.15 MX Kernels are now so outdated. Without security support, I really think it would be wiser to remove them, since MX provides enough kernels choice (4.9, 4.19, Liquorix...). Some distros (like Ubuntu or Deepin) stick to 4.15 kernel. Would it be technically possible to follo...

Re: Kernel v 4.14

I suggest simply removing old MX kernels (4.14, 4.15) from repos.

Re: Remove XFCE and use only LXDE or Mate

There's a command in the wiki to remove all xfce related packages: https://mxlinux.org/wiki/xfce/how-to-completely-remove-xfce/ Does it work for MX 18 as the wiki mentions upto MX-17 How do you do the reverse then? Reinstall XFCE? Hello Sagsaw, After reading your different posts/topics, I wonder if...

Re: MX Kernel vs Antix Kernel

Why do you think we don't have a tickless kernel in idle mode? Have you looked at the kernel config in /boot? BTW, kernel context switch frequency is not related to tickless. Some reading: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/timers/NO_HZ.txt MX does not provide the 4.9 kernels--those are from ...

Re: Firefox buggy as usual

Hello, I think your topic title looks like trolling... Firefox works like a charm for me (I'm using ESR version). At first it was running so slow I had to reboot MX to get it to work. And then, what occurred with following boots ? Didn't you check other possible reasons (hardware, system memory...) ...

R.I.P Synaptic ?

Synaptic was recently removed from Buster, because of compatibility problems due to Wayland.

Maybe you should just stop using it...
Chrome works better for me. Especially across devices and operating systems. Makes my life easier. I wish it was otherwise.
Is Chromium unable to give you the same satisfaction ?

I use Chrome, but it worries me we are going back towards the old "Internet Explorer only" days.
Maybe you should just stop using it...

Re: MX Kernel vs Antix Kernel

Ok ... So first of all OP that is me is a HE not a SHE ... For me practically I found the MXLinux to be very fast boot even with a 32 bit PAE kernel on a single core VIAC7-D 1600MHZ processor with Vesa DIsplay Driver. This was compared to Live boots for Slitaz, Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Mint Mate, Manjaro. ...

Re: Music Manager Software other than Clementine/Strawberry

My favourite one is Quodlibet, very light and tweakable. It's shipped with its intuitive audio tag editor Exfalso.
