Re: Calling for MX-18 conkies

It's not in Favourites section on mine, I just looked. Found it buried in the 'All' section. Wish it was easier to find.

Re: Calling for MX-18 conkies

We are in *market* for new conkies to be included by default with the next version of MX. I wish there was a handy switch on the default desktop to turn off this annoying feature. It seems that whenever someone makes a new or updated distro they fill it with resource consuming trash that just annoy...

Does anyone know of another open source beer recipe calculator that's available for d/l via Synaptic?
What a great question--first time I have ever seen that!

Re: update-grubupdate problem

Wouldn't it be easier to remove the grub update from the update list? So many people having trouble with this.

Alternatively, isn't there a box in Synaptic where you can isolate certain updates? I recall having used it for Firefox in the past.

As an aside, what is the advantage of encrypting your OS as opposed to just using a strong password to prevent others reading your account?

Re: Nov 10 updates - grub-pc

Following a re-install I had 138 updates offered and, like many, panicked when the DOS style boxes about grub updates suddenly popped up. Not knowing what to do and no instructions on how to even control the box and there being no info in ABC language (-just techno gobbledy gook!) I deleted all opti...

Re: MX 17.1 demands password but refuses to start

Sorry guys, but I decided to re-install via a recent Snapshot, it was too stressful switching back and forth between two distros. Guess we'll never know what happened to the previous grub to make the password request to keep looping. There may be a clue to the experts though : first off, I re-instal...

Please show : echo $HOME and ls -al $HOME How can I show you the result of two or more pages of text when I cannot get to ...

Code: Select all

sudo rm <filename>
Make sure that you are in the directory where the file resides.
How do I do that when the system won't run, so I can't see where I am?
