Re: Tor 8.0 has stopped working

Do you mean Tor browser?
I have just download tor-browser 8.5.4 and it works (it browses the web)
Also, Brave browser uses tor network in a kind of "incognito window" (at least, it says that). Open it with Alt+Shift+N. May be it is useful until the other one works again.

Re: Thunar "Delete" Menu = Total Disaster -- Twice

Why doesn't the OP simply turn off the option to have "Delete" appear in the context menu, Sorry, Stevo, How do you do that? It has never been there as the default, either, so they or "someone" has to specifically enable it. I see that Delete item in thunar's contex menu and I can't recall to have ...

Re: Browser comparisons

I use it daily at work and home as my main browser. It's the best for me.
It does not handle DRM (some streaming sites require that). You can't use it for spotify nor netflx (afaik). So you should use another one (like firefox) for that.

Re: Who runs MX from USB and why?

I boot daily on one of my jobs, from usb, a live session of MX with persistence because I don't want to touch the MBR of the pc I use there (w10 installed), just in case. I don't need W10 but other people is just used to it. I have my persistence files in one partition of the hard drive and use the ...

Re: Is there a way to change font size in File Manager...???

Well, not only for thunar but for the whole desktop fonts, have you tried Menu>Appearance>Default font?. You can change font and size there (default is Noto sans 11) And may be the DPI section could help too. https://forum.xfce.org/viewtopic.php?id=12227 ------------- EDIT: The following is for thun...

Re: freeze

I would like to turn off the screen saver to see if that helps but I can't find any way to turn it off in the menu To stop the screensaver (it will be running but it wont do anything), you can enable "Presentation mode": right Click on the Battery icon and in the pop up menu that appears clic on Pr...

Re: System freezes but cursor still moves, no X-kill

I don't know what may be the cause of your problem. Sound like memory, like manyroads say, but it is strange as 8 Gb is a lot of RAM (at least for common usage). But when something like that (like a freeze or a black screen) happens to me, and the Xkill shortcut (Ctrl+Alt+Esc is the default on MX) d...

Re: Brave browser

I have installed it on MX and using it since yesterday and it feels good. Very fast. Specially Gmail seems to load faster than with other browsers. No issues at all. I have used the instructions posted on this thread by gerson and the other kernel thing (because if not it doesen't lunch). Not diffic...

Re: Live Remaster error. The live file system is read only

What should i use to boot a live system if not an iso file? The concept of Live-Usb-Maker is to create a writable LiveUSB from a MX/antiX Linux ISO-file. Booting from an ISO image either burned on DVD or write-"dumped" onto an USBstick, will not make the ISO-image boot media writable. Thank you feh...

Re: Live Remaster error. The live file system is read only

Thank you, BitJam for your detailed answer. I'm trying to understand. I am re reading the wiki also. But first, Remastering involves changing the linuxfs file on the boot media. You are booting from an iso file. The file system on an iso file is read-only. We allow booting from iso files but we don'...
