Tropico 5 works fine on Xubuntu but not our MX Linux 17.1. I also have trouble compiling a lot of source code. I think we have some systemic issues that we must find and solve. Does anybody have some insight? What could we be missing or what could be outdated?
Thank you!

Re: My idea- for the MX Suggestion box, optimize option installer
It could! I compile a lot of source code. It's surprising easy to do and it can have noticeable results. For example, my game that use to studded. Now I can play it at full FPS. One thing about MX is that Chrome browser is a bit pokey despite Google's efforts to speed it up. If we could easily compi...

Rated MX Linux 10
I rated and reviewed MX Linux on distro watch. I couldn't believe it but... it's rising and not far from #1 distro. It's number 8. The last time I checked it was further down the list.

Re: Distrowatch reveiw grumbles
I'm really selective about my Linux- I've used Ubuntu or Xubuntu since 2009. MX Linux was the ONLY distro that I have tried that could beat Ubuntu flavors. It's better in every way.
That's fine, the reviewer is missing out. Their loss.

My idea- for the MX Suggestion box, optimize option installer
Ok, this is my big idea for MX Linux. If I were a dev, I would work on this myself. *sigh* I'm handing it off in hopes that it could inspire somebody- but maybe it's a silly idea. I created this using GIMP to further illustrate the idea. Without the self-punishment of installing something link Gento...

Re: Could we get some new MESA and Wine goodness in the MX Test repos?
Oh, and if you wanted to go a step further, each file (SDL2 library, tar, X11 system files) could have their own options menu. I mean, that would be a pain but if you were a power user and wanted to see what all could be added or removed... that would be amazing. There could be an "auto" f...

Re: Could we get some new MESA and Wine goodness in the MX Test repos?
Stevo, that's very true but the app could check for the needed space. In fact, it would have to. Ohhhh but imagine how awesome that would be! Especially since some people are choosing to use and game with Linux FOR the speed. We often argue our OS is faster, more responsive, boots faster. That would...

This is incredible. Thank you.Stevo wrote:Cooked up wine-staging 3.3 myself--added SDL2, Kerberos 5, and Vulkan support to see how much smoke comes out. So far the versions in vanilla Stretch are enough to make it happy. We'll have to see about what we have in MX 15.

Re: Could we get some new MESA and Wine goodness in the MX Test repos?
I just chatted with a fellow Linux friend and he has been using Aura. It's a package manager but it also (or it does by default?) compiles everything from source before installing. Ummmm. If we could have that... wow. I would only ask that we could add -march=native and a choice of -O2, -O3, or -Ofa...

Oh, and it looks like MXinstaller was updated. Whoever did that, thank you very much!
