Re: Thank you MX Linux

I did some distro-hopping (not that I ever left MX Linux as I always have at least one machine in the house with this OS). Anyway, I was uninspired and mostly disappointed with the other distros I tinkered with. It was my reassurance that MX Linux is my mainstay. In fact MX Linux was the deciding fa...

Re: Thank you MX Linux

@manyroads Everyone probably already knows this... but you can simply send MX Logos etc over to sites like 'spreadshirt' and have custom things like mugs, jackets, hats, made (you can even send your dog's photo...). Yes, familiar with those sites. Just wanted to know if something was already availab...

Thank you MX Linux

I just wanted to give a BIG THANK YOU to all of the MX Linux developers for such an awesome Linux distro! I've been using it for about two years now I cannot be happier. During that entire two year span, I have experienced only one (very minor) hiccup. After an update, I lost functionality to my num...

Re: pdfedit

@goersorg - Thank your for starting this thread... I didn't know if it was appropriate to start a new thread concerning PDFs or add to this one, but the topic is roughly the same. Can someone tell me the PDF software available for MX Linux users that comes closest to Adobe Acrobat? I've used Adobe A...

Security/surveillance camera & compatible software

I want to get a couple of security cameras to monitor my home and connect them to my MX Linux 17 box. I am open to wired or wireless connections (however, I prefer the most secure connection). Is a Linux security cam easy to hack?? With that said, I'd like some advice/suggestions on security camera'...

Re: MX_17 Audio and streaming issues

were they powered speakers? and was the power on (don't laugh too hard, I've done that, its why I ask). @ dolphin_oracle Yes, they were powered speakers - and the power was on (I did have a good chuckle at that one). The problem I ran into was those speakers being 15 years old. They died. The speak...

Re: MX_17 Audio and streaming issues

One thing I have not tried is using different speakers. So, Ive got some ordered. I'll let post the results once I have the speakers.
Happy New Year.

Re: MX_17 Audio and streaming issues

@dolphin_oracle Switching ports was one of the first troubleshooting steps I took. That faint sound coming out of the speakers does not change at all when I adjust the volume. The same faint (nonadjustable) sound is made when I switch to the on-board sound as well. I have the Linux drivers for the d...

Re: MX_17 Audio and streaming issues

@whell The XFi Elite Pro is a PCI sound card (not USB). Here's a description of the card: 24-bit Analog-to-Digital conversion of analog inputs at 96kHz sample rate 24-bit Digital-to-Analog conversion of digital sources at 96kHz to analog 7.1 speaker output 24-bit Digital-to-Analog conversion of ster...

Re: MX_17 Audio and streaming issues

@ducklair - hopefully both our sound issues can be resolved. Having functional sound on computer whether streaming online video, playing mp3s, etc. is pretty important.
