ntpd process stuck at 50% CPU

This has happened a few times, and is happening currently. I'm not sure what sets it off. NTPD has something to do with the time service, perhaps it syncs, not sure. But several times I've caught it stuck at 50% cpu, and never shutting down. I can't kill it via task manager, because of lack of privi...

Re: Resume from Suspend often loses session -SSD concerns

Following up on this. I've been watching the system for any SSD anomalies, and I'm not sure what to make of it. I have a Kingston 120GB SSD for /. Overwhelmingly the drive seems perfect, but occasionally there will be a quirk. Maybe 4 days ago, I used a mouse gesture program to close an app, and the...

Re: Resume from Suspend often loses session

Good suggestions all around. Thanks ! The "Save Session" box in the logout dialog is unchecked. But I think that option is for the more drastic actions of logging out, rebooting, or shutting down, and not for Suspend, where the session should be saved by definition? Correct me if I'm wrong on that. ...

Resume from Suspend often loses session (SSD concerns?)

Suspend (into sleep, not hibernation) was working fine until a couple of weeks ago. I have the machine set to auto-suspend after one hour, and this trips two or three times a day, typically. I have screen lock invoked, so I have to log back in. Everything was great. And then I began to lose sessions...

Re: Best way to downgrade LibreOffice 6 to 5.4.6?

At the bottom of the LO download page there's a link to older versions: https://downloadarchive.documentfoundat ... ffice/old/

Uninstall the current version before manually installing a different one.

But have you broached your font problem over at ask.libreoffice.org?

Re: Is there a dark theme for this forum?

There are a couple of things you can do. First, Vivaldi has a "Reader View", which can be configured to "Dark Mode". It works quite well. You will find it in the popup "<>" menu in the Statusbar, and it can be assigned to a hotkey. I found the RV's dark mode too high contrast, but there are two ways...

Re: Does Pulse audio equalizer actually work?

Yes, I tried to install it, and it called for the later version of ~gstreamer-plugin-good~. So I found that on the debian site and tried to install it, and it called for something else. So there's a chain of dependencies that must be met, and I probably would get in deep enough to mess something up,...

Re: Does Pulse audio equalizer actually work?

Thank you, @sunrat. It's great to see this level of cooperation here. Much appreciated. @KoO - so as it stands, it seems best to stick with equalizer for now, until dependencies might be updated? Here's the "bad" plugin, but it's for debian testing (Buster), and I don't know if that will work: https...

Re: Does Pulse audio equalizer actually work?

@robert1, thank you, that is brilliant. It shouldn't be a problem to create a menu item for qpaeq, and to set it to autorun. From what I can see, assigning a browser to use it is persistent, at least over closing the browser, and I hope over a reboot. So it looks like each program would have to be s...
