Re: MX 17 Repository: The CopyQ Thread

CopyQ is the best. Be sure to check out its Snippets plugin. Nice to see the latest version made easily available here for everyone.

Re: No Password query on Resume from Sleep [solved]

Exactly. under Sessions and Startup / autoruns (or whatever they call it), the screensaver service does say it's related to the locking function. But I found that so bizarre that I chanced turning it off. My problem is my memory is not what I would wish at the moment (down with the flu), and I forgo...

Re: No Password query on Resume from Sleep

Apparently the screensaver service must be turned on, even if you don't use a screensaver. I recall now that I did turn it off a couple of days ago, and now that I've enabled it again the password function has worked twice in a row.

No Password query on Resume from Sleep [solved]

Everything was working fine until a couple of days ago. But then suddenly on coming out of Sleep (not hibernation), no password is required to log back in. (I have to push the On button, which blinks on Sleep, to come out of Sleep on my Dell tower.) Under Power Settings / System I have "lock sc...

Re: Bitwarden - open source alternative to LastPass and possibly Keepass

You're very welcome. Wasn't sure whether to post it, but saw some talk about keepassXC here recently. Let me know what you think of it, as I'm not an expert, but I basically like it a lot.

Bitwarden - open source alternative to LastPass and possibly Keepass

Just a heads-up, I have been using Bitwarden for a few months now, and have been very pleased with it. I knew after a few days that it would replace LastPass here, as it's easier and simpler to use and works on more sites. There's a new interview here with the owner, and he lists some of the main fe...

Re: MX Updater: Full vs. Basic Update?

Why is dist-upgrade option recommended for newcomers, where keeping an eye on what's being removed and using our common sense, is required? ...and the upgrade option, recommended for advanced users, where there is no need to check anything, it's totally safe? It sounds backwards to me. What am I mi...

Re: MX Updater: Full vs. Basic Update?

I'm not sure if any determination has been made on this, but I've been thinking about it, so I'll chime in. First of all, I think the existing blurbs Jerry posted are excellent. Now I finally know why I was getting so many packages held back! Just a couple of thoughts. First - the tooltips could be ...

Re: MX Updater: Full vs. Basic Update?

Thanks, guys, for the insight. I am going to switch to the Full option. I think that the current labeling, while undoubtedly an effort to simplify things, will leave many not understanding what's going on. At least it did in my case. (I also misunderstood the MX Updater's previous labeling.) I would...

MX Updater: Full vs. Basic Update?

It seems the MX Updater has a new scheme. I'm unclear on what the two options, Full or Basic, actually do. I've been sticking with Basic, and it's working fine. Would someone explain what is involved behind these choices?

Thanks!
