Re: Streamlining MX17

I found that watching videos directly in SMPlayer or VLC used half or less the resources of a browser, and the videos were very smooth. This is great. Many videos are embedded in web pages, so it's not a perfect solution, but it's still a major step forward.

Re: Streamlining MX17

This is antiX-17-core built up to use elogind, network-manager(tui), basic xfce and no systemd whatsoever! Latest antiX 686-pae kernel installed System is running frugal with persistence. Very nice. I installed AntiX again, but the verdict is final. MX is my speed at this point. So I'm back to MX o...

Re: Sharing a complete hard disk

My guess: ⋅ the Samba GUI utility operates under User privileges, and therefore creates the share with that level of folder permissions. ⋅ If you manually change the folder permissions of the shared folder, I doubt you'd see this problem. ⋅ Accessing the USB shared fold...

Re: Near death experience

Ok, that worked well. That's a lot more direct than chroot.

Thanks very much. I'll mark this solved, but if anyone has any other pertinent ways to deal with the original problem, I'd like to hear them.
