Same with Dell 5567. To boot from USB or CD, press F12 when Dell logo appears (shows boot options).

Re: I want to Translate English to Bengali!

So, if on the first screenshot is Phonetic Bengali... Phonetic Bengali is not a different script but using English letters. Same how I introduced myself in my previous post: "Namaskar, amar nam Markku (Salute, my name is Markku). With Bengali scripture it would have been something like this (not su...

Re: Debian 10 new look and feel

Yet I'm glad they went to Calamares for live images for those unused to the old installer. Most users if then "old or new timer" installing makes them often "unused". Its not something one does every week and become used with it. Debian old installer is not self-explanatory. I liked when Calamares ...

Re: I want to Translate English to Bengali!

You are right! A lot of people speak this language! Actually It was one of the main languages in South Asia. Namaskar, amar nam Markku. Bangla has a Sanskrit root so there are similarities in South East Asia such are Malaysia and Indonesia. I was in South EA (1983-1997), also visited often Calcutta...

Debian 10 new look and feel

I download and installed the latest live DVD (gnome), got surprised by the new look. Previous versions since beginning, has kept me off. But this I will keep until MX 19 is released. The DVD boots with splash screen (sounds like wrong iso), and login to a polished environment. Last surprise, Calamar...

Please DON'T update if +1900 packages

If you see there is an update of +1900 packages, please DON'T upgrade. Its upgrades to buster which breaks your whole system. It removes systemd-shim, lightdm, netwwork-manager, and other important packages. If you do, don't logout before reinstalling the removed packages. Here are few resent issues...

Re: Please help !!! Unable to access GUI after update

Is this becoming an issue where machines get upgraded to buster without notice. This upgrade breaks the system (systemd-shim, lightdm, netwwork-manager, and other important packages are removed). Here is another asking for help:

Re: Upgrade to Buster Debian 10 Broke Login GUI

FYI, new blog post up. https://mxlinux.org/blog/debian-stable-is-now-buster/ Thank you, this is great news. For those that want to know, the plan is right now that MX-19 will ship with sysVinit as the default init system, with systemd also installed for those that want to use it (good if you like s...

Re: Upgrade to Buster Debian 10 Broke Login GUI

To upgrade stretch to buster, is to reinstall packages which are removed in the process, BEFORE logout. In the upgrade systemd-shim, lightdm, network-manager, synaptic, etc. are removed. It breaks whole system. Don't feel bad, this what I also did last January. In my next round of upgrade, success. ...
