Re: New MX21 Installs problems with mx-datetime

I had a problem with time on a system once. It turned out to be the little battery on the MB dying. I replaced it and the problem went away.

I haven't been here for ages but I saw this randomly today and thought I would throw this out here, in case it's a similar thing and can save you all time.

Re: MX-16 Screenshots

Latest screenshot from my test MX15 (Jessie) partition that I'm still using. The Lollypop media player running is the flatpak version since Jessie's gtk+ version is too old to run Lollypop otherwise. It works but not for themeing. No matter what gtk theme you apply, flatpak Lollypop will just show ...

Re: My idea- for the MX Suggestion box, optimize option installer

Interesting... I've never delved into compiling because of the fiddly technical learning of it.

Maybe something like this would open up my Linux world a little...

Re: Slightly odd Desktop Behavior ... notifications

The bash command doesn't like the notifications being in there. Tried a couple of variations but that made no difference. Getting the screensaver to come in the terminal wasn't a problem. I don't use ctrl + c or x or v in the terminal because last time that I tried it that didn't work. In the termi...

Re: Mint or MX?

That's a very nice graphic too. They could've done a better job with the Sun's rays though. Aside from that, yeah it rocks! What do you mean by hardware atm ... ??? So far I've installed MX 17.1 on a single core 32bit setup with 2 GB of RAM, two very different 64bit dual-core 10 year old setups, ea...

Re: Mint or MX?

Yeah, and they say that looks don't matter so much (LOL) . I have 27 years of professional computer experience and how my setup makes me feel when I have to look at it every day, matters very much to me. I work from home, so getting up in the morning, turning on the display with coffee in hand, req...

Re: Mint or MX?

Well, I know that these days many computer users/developers appear to be in to the dark themes, but I've never been able to find one where all text is always easy to read, regardless of lighting or time of day. So in the end, I always ended up reverting back to a lighter theme.... Wow... I want all...

Re: [fluffpost] 2 years left (Win7 EOL) to learn this *nix stuff

I wasn't supposed to install jdownloader2 as " sudo ./JD2Setup_x64.sh," huh? Well, I did manage - smb shares working with gufw blocking everything else and Compositor set to sync vertical for youtube video tearing My next steps - Uninstall this rooted-jdownloader somehow or another ...

Re: REQUEST ... Adjustment to Installer for foreign Keyboards [Solved]

Totally agree with this. I've installed MX four times now, MX16 and MX17.1 and I didn't know about the time-zone and language options, until I'd installed twice already. One of these misses leading to a time-skew nightmare, with my Windows 7 install. :frustrated: Now... making the bottom options lar...
