Re: MX-19 Beta 2.1 Feedback

I don't see apparmor installed on MX 17/18. Isn't that just another piece of Linux bloat that will annoy and create problems for newbies and more experienced users? Some people report that Debian 10 doesn't run properly with apparmor on certain hardware. Linux is already too complicated for a casual...

Re: MX Linux forum is googlized

It doesn't matter much, but I checked Linux Mint forum and PCLinuxOS forum which seem to be using similar forum software. MX Linux forum 12-13 % (used to be 0-1 %) Linux Mint forum 0-1 % PCLinuxOS forum 0-1 % Browser: Pale Moon 28.7.1 (latest) CPU: Topology: Quad Core model: Intel Celeron J3455 bits...

Re: [SOLVED] MX snapshot problem (folders in home missing)

MX Snapshot on the T430 in signature using 4 (all) cores and 'mksq_opt=-comp xz -b 262144' with temperatures throttled at 87°C, takes about 45 minutes and iso is 3307 GB. using 4 (all) cores and 'mksq_opt=-comp lz4 -b 262144' temperatures at average 77°C, peak 87°C, takes 2:09 minutes and iso is 44...

Re: MX snapshot problem (home folders missing)

I have to test it. I just hate how slow this process is on this old machine. lz4 compression is your friend. It takes max 10 minutes on ANY machine. In /etc/mx-snapshot.conf change to lz4: mksq_opt=-comp lz4 PCLinuxOS uses lz4 on the latest images and it's fast (with sysvinit). Ubuntu is also going...

Re: MX Linux forum is googlized

It's pretty heavy. Site went from 0 % to 12 % CPU. Shouldn't there be a poll so we know if anyone finds it useful? Maybe moderators find it useful, I forgot about that.

Re: Positive Feedback - Bleachbit and Xed

I use Xreader and Xviewer from test repo. They are good. Xed I haven't tried but now I must do it. Bleachbit I use sometimes, but I stay away from Bleachbit root mode because I don't want to get burned.

I want to leave positive feedback regarding your user avatar - it's great! :puppy:

Re: Update today pulls back in samba-libs due to VLC

I use VLC 3.0.8 from Debian. It only recommends samba as Stevo says so by default MX Linux will not pull in samba with latest VLC from Debian.

Re: Ubuntu-designed packages

It looks like Flatpak uninstall has been taken care of, just saw this thread: I suggested you open MXPI >> Flatpaks tab. Use the dropdown menu on the right, near to the search field, and check on "installed apps" and "installed runtimes". That will tell you what flatpaks are left on your system.

Re: Ubuntu-designed packages

I never tried to use one of them but these may be helpful : The users don’t have to worry about the libraries and dependencies, everything is bundled within the flatpak app itself. Most importantly, Flaptpak apps are sandboxed and isolated from the rest of the host operating system, and other appli...

Not a regression. Just a different way to do it.
Alpha slider has been removed from "system style".

System Style - Alpha present in 4.12 but NOT in 4.14
Solid Color - Alpha present in both 4.12 and 4.14
Panel background - Alpha was never an option, transparency dictated by the image file.
