Re: Small, Lightweight, & Upgradable Laptop Suggestions?

2mcgreg - yeah, I totally understand that. The biggest problem I'm encountering is that I can't seem to find any info on whether the laptop has access for upgrading. I can take the entire bottom off a laptop, at least I have in the past, but I'd rather not do that just in case it gets stuck after un...

Small, Lightweight, & Upgradable Laptop Suggestions?

Hi MXLinux! This post will be long so I'm gunna do a TLDR right now. I'm looking to buy a smaller-screen laptop, lightweight laptop in the 11"-13" range. This new laptop will run Linux exclusively, and the RAM and SSDs can be easily upgraded, especially if the laptop has a compartment that...

Replacing iMac OSX with MX-Linux

Hello fellow MX users. This question is a little long so there's a summary at the bottom as a <TLDR>. My Dad got himself a MacBook Air on Black Friday and gave me his old iMac, which I'd like to completely replace OSX with Linux. For the time being, I'm planning on using the tool Apple provides to e...

Re: MX Gnome 3.30 buster Respin

Hey there! I'm giving this a test and the first thing I noticed was that all the apt repos are configured for Stretch not Buster. Naturally I wasn't expecting to see this, as indicated by the title of the thread as well as the name of the iso. Was this an oversight on the newest iso you created? I n...

Can Gnome Shell work without systemd?

Hey fellow MX'rs! Hope everyone is well. I've a quick question. Quite a while ago I think I remember reading that Gnome Shell requires systemd in order to properly run as a desktop. I'm extremely happy with the heavilily customized xfce desktop I currently have but am curious to try Gnome again afte...

Re: MX-17 Screenshots

My second post on MX Linux Forums. Omg dude. That is A LOT of Green! And a ton of desktop icons! ... Did you really set it up that way on purpose? Are you a new comer to Linux overall? I know that tone can be hard to guess on the internet, I'm genuinely curious about your desktop since it is basica...

Re: Mx Linux With Cinnamon

What did you mean when you said your cinnamon is lighter on the resources than original cinnamon? If I or anyone else were to `sudo apt install cinnamon`, we'd have the original cinnamon... right? So what else did you do in order to make your lower resources Diet Cinnamon?

Re: MX Linux Mate Edition (Respin)

I was only asking before to see if it was done erroneously but since there's still nothing there I can only assume that it didn't work out as well as the design was hoping for. If it ever comes back on SF I'd give the LiveUSB a test drive.
