[SOLVED] MX 16 boot error (user name and PW are OK)

For some reason the disk was full. Utilizing the MX19 Live USB I was able to mount the drive, deleted appr. 600MB and after restart it was a shiny, happy system again.
Time to install MX19.

Re: MX 16 boot error (user name and PW are OK)

Thanks for the suggestion! This is exactly what I'm doing right now.
Prior to reinstall I will remove a few 100MBs from the old install's Home folder to see if the insufficient available free disk space caused this issue or not.
I will report the outcome.

Re: MX 16 boot error (user name and PW are OK)

Yep. At first there was a problem with the PW. I changed it via the terminal. The PW is OK now, but I cannot get through the login screen.

[SOLVED] MX 16 boot error (user name and PW are OK)

I just tried to boot up an Intel Atom N455 (64bit) based netbook with MX16 installed to make some backups and install MX19.
The User Name and PW was accepted, but it continuously returns to the same login (Light DM) screen.
Any idea how to go any further?
Thanks!

Re: Can anyone recommend to me a cheapish, current model notebook that loves Linux?

I have Sony Vaio laptops (even an old i3 VPCEB1E1E, lately upgraded to the max. of 8GB RAM) all with Radeon GPU. They "fly" with MX. (one of them has Arco installed as well in order to test a few things in Arch as well) I would look for a used one in proper shape if the nowadays again manu...
