Re: woogaloo (beta): GUI for performing hodgepodge system tasks

another feature u may want to consider is 'tmpfs on virtual memory'.
edit /etc/fstab and add below to eol.

Code: Select all

tmpfs   /var/tmp   tmpfs   rw,nodev,nosuid,mode=1777   0   0

Re: RAM Utilisation :- Memory optimal using for Graphics and Media Creation

i've 8gb ram and never seen swap have been use.
only one time fully load my Dual Core E5400 to the max.
cpu can't handle the load, 2mb is use on 2gb swap.
u can set swappiness=10 and vfs_cache_pressure=50, minimize swap.

Re: MX 17.1 install fails at partitioning (probably due to NVME & UEFI)

suggest install again.
run disk partition;
1b. do partition 1 32gb format ext4, partition 2 for the rest of space, format fat32 or ntfs.
after parting,
1a. select ssd partition 1, then
1c. select partition (not select entire disk).
i did these on my ssd.

Re: MX 17.1 install fails at partitioning (probably due to NVME & UEFI)

could it be fault of minstall? note from your terminal screen, state "nvme0n11" instead of "nvme0n1p1" (partition). partitions for nvme0n1: partition 1 = nvme0n1p1; partition 2 = nvme0n1p2; partition 3 = nvme0n1p3....and so forth. or nos of ssd on: nvme0n1, nvme0n2, nvme0n3....an...

Re: WINE install failure

as i mention #8 https://forum.mxlinux.org/viewtopic.php?p=442874#p442874 . once mx had updated, wine is dependent on previous version. so it is impossible to install wine, unless dev(s) rebuilt with upgraded version(s). it is very much easier to start from new mx and install all from popular apps in...
