Re: Updator is broken [Solved]

The following may not work for all but I have had this error several times in the past. What always worked for me was to use the MX Repo Manager and change to a different mirror. I just assumed that the repository that I was using had not been updated yet. Anyway, maybe the problem is something else...

Re: how to keep an app from running more than one instance

This is talking about multiple instances of a shell script rather than an application, but it may be useful: https://www.golinuxcloud.com/check-if-script-is-already-running-shell-linux/ Thank you JayM ! I went to that link and used method one and added the code to the beginning of my script and it ...

how to keep an app from running more than one instance(SOLVED)

Not sure what section this question should go under; please move if needed. I maintain several computers at a senior center; they're all running MX 18.1 on older Core 2 duo desktops. The problem is that the users will click to start the browser, in this case Slimjet, and because it doesn't appear in...

See:
/usr/doc/prey.README.Debian

This is a service that runs in the background and is configured by editing its config file, not a GUI program.
I don't seem to have a /usr/doc folder.

Prey (phone location app)

I installed Prey from the MX Package Installer but I
can't find it.
It's not in the menu and I tried typing in prey
in the terminal but to no avail.

How do you run Prey ?

Re: No pulse-audio control

Problem solved.
In pulse_audio, under the configuration tab, the first drop down
was set to Digital Stereo (HDMI) Output.

After setting it to Off, now I have control again from the pulse-audio plugin.
Don't know how it got that way, but all's well now.

No pulse-audio control (SOLVED)

Suddenly, it seems, I no longer can control sound via the pulse-audio icon in the notifications. Even if I add the pulse-audio plugin to a panel, the plugin has no control. However, if I open pulse-audio from the menu, I can move the slider and control the sound. Just no control any more from the no...

Re: Scanner problem

Found out what I was doing wrong ! I deleted the printer on the laptop and then added it via cups by going to http://localhost:631 instead of adding it with 'Print Settings' Now that I think about it, I faintly remember that when I added the printer on the desktop, I must have tried first doing it w...

Re: Scanner problem

saned only need to be running on a server, if you are running a server for other clients on the network. Check the settings in /etc/saned.d/ files saned.conf, dll.conf and net.conf and whatever the conf file is for your scanner. Nothing is running as a server; the desktop, laptop, and printer are a...
