Re: File Synchronization - is unison a good choice?

If you installed unison-gtk, you'll have /usr/share/doc/unison-gtk/unison-manual.txt.gz, which you can unzip and read. Well ... cool! I tried a Search via Catfish and it did not find it ... but it turns out that was because I only searched the named directories on the SSD & HDD but not the File...

I Search http://eu.ixquick.eu (google is definitely not my friend) & found the same page as before.

I went to the Download Page & still did not find the PDF there.

I downloaded the HTML - that will get it done.

Thanks

I loaded it but now need to "edumacate" myself ...

I was hoping someone using MX-17 had tried it & could say it's solid or suggest something better in the repository.

I tend to break things when I just go for what's generically stated as good in the internet.

Thanks

Re: HardInfo 0.5.1 Devices->Storage Shows Nothing

I just built i-nex for the MX-17 Test repo. It's a hardware information tool designed to look like the CPU-Z Windows tool. I'm not crazy about the look of it but it's comprehensive including for Storage & USB. Give it a try. <Mod: I changed the name to start with lower case> I can find inxi in ...

File Synchronization - is unison a good choice?

While doing some research I came upon the Unison project. http://www.cis.upenn.edu/~bcpierce/unison/download.html I'd like a simple way to keep files on two matched laptops sync'd. It's in the Synaptic Package manager. Is there a reason I should avoid this - or is it good to use, please? Thanks!

Is sqlite-browser a good choice to view .db file in Firefox?

I'm trying to sort out why my login history did not come across with Bookmarks and History in Firefox. (My default settings for homepage and search engine also didn't make it.) I can view the "logins.json" file in FeatherPad but want to look at key3.db I see sqlite-browser in the Synaptic ...

Default Profile for Firefox & Thunderbird - Problem

EDIT: I tried everything again and have been able to get Thunderbird to accept my folders and address book from the desktop install. (I'm guessing maybe a corrupted file during the original file transfer.) I have not tried to symlink from the HDD (in the UltraBay) to the SSD yet. Next I will retry F...

Re: How to clone or sync two laptops

This
https://plugable.com/products/usb3-tran/
doesn't list Linux compatibility but this
http://lists.openwall.net/linux-kernel/2017/09/18/8
says a patch to support the PL-27A1 was committed in Sept 2017.

Does this mean that the transfer cable should work with MX-17?

Re: How to clone or sync two laptops

I'd like to keep them sync'd The straightforward solution is to use a LiveUsb+persistence system & boot from whichever machine is at hand. In many cases that is true but, in addition to the security concerns, it will not work for my application. I have a 1TB HDD in addition to the 180G SSD. I m...
