Re: grub error

Thanks. I did use Grub Customizer to re-order the entries. Funny, I've used that for years and never had a problem. Always on Debian, though and the config files setup there seems a little simpler. Anyway, I have a vanilla installation of MX18.1 in a different partition and copied the files from tha...

grub error

I run an AMD system and Virtualbox so need IOMMU enabled. However, this causes IO Page Faults which I fix by editing/etc/default/grub by changing GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="" to GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX="iommu=soft". So, from a different installation: root@BOSSDESK:/home/chris# mount /dev/sda8 /mnt root@BOSSDESK...

Re: en-gb language pack dependency problem in Thunderbird

MX18.1 root@BOSSDESK:/home/chris# apt-get install thunderbird-l10n-en-gb Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distr...

en-gb language pack dependency problem in Thunderbird (FIXED)

Been a while, people, but I do keep tabs on progress with MX, which I think is potentially the best distro out there. I've been running Debian Jessie with MATE for production purposes and it's great. But, it's time to move to upgrade and I've been trying Stretch. After the MATE panel crashed for the...

Re: Any manage to install Waterfox?

Check that you have libgcc1 and libstdc++6. If not, install them. They were already in my MX16 installation. As was curl, but Debian just got an update so check that you have that. Then re-run the last command. I've just installed in Debian 8.9 and ran across one small hitch with a missing protocol ...

Re: Any manage to install Waterfox?

Yes, just run each command in a terminal. They're Ubuntu based, explaining all the "sudo's" but work fine, except that in MX you need to run the last one as root. I do understand the risks, which is why I did it first on a non-production machine. Installing that way means that everything is in its p...

Re: Any manage to install Waterfox?

Do have one (actually two) issue with Waterfox. Suggestions for searches in url box does not work and... after typing a link in url box, must click on the arrow all the way over to the right. Just installed on another machine with MX16 and this problem is not happening. Possibly related to the way ...

Re: Any manage to install Waterfox?

There is an unofficial Ubuntu repo at https://bintray.com/hawkeye116477/waterfox-deb/waterfox Installed from this using apt-get on another machine and it worked flawlessly in MX16. I've not really been happy with the way that Firefox has been heading and the recent update borked all my add-ons. Wate...

Re: Flash player installed, not working. **SOLVED**

Because I had already burned the disc and figured it would do the update automatically anyway as soon as I did a dist-upgrade, which is usually the first thing I do with a fresh install.
