I use Firefox 61.0.1 with all telemetry disabled in about:config.
I see setting in about:config but could you explain what you disabled and how( what values)
Scroll down to toolkit and set everything that says telemetry to false.

Re: newbie help with software install

I have ClamTK already. I was looking for something better. Well, ClamTK can check with virustotal against 50++ av-scanner, which you won't find in most other avs. Thanks, I was just looking to see if there is something better to come out in the future. There aren't any other antivirus programs that...

Re: newbie help with software install

Hopefully one day Eset or another antivirus will be in the repository so I can install it with Synaptic. The command line is not a viable installation option for me. Just install ClamTK it's GUI for ClamAV available via MXPI / Synaptic. I have ClamTK already. I was looking for something better.

Re: newbie help with software install

I thought that ClamAV did scan. Does it not? Please enlighten me. ClamAV only scans when you type the proper Gibberish in the terminal to make it scan since ClamAV is a command line program. The G.U.I. version is called ClamTK which you can do manual scans or set it up for automatic daily scans but...

Re: newbie help with software install

OP is just not used to doing without an antivirus I think. Many people going to Mint come directly from Windows. If there are any threatening viruses in the wild affecting Linux it would be posted all over the place. I've yet to see any, so no antivirus needed IMHO. Cinnamon works a bit different t...

How does ClamTK perform, being available from Synaptic?
I personally don't care for the way it performs but it's the only antivirus that works somewhat. It doesn't have active scanning.

Re: newbie help with software install

As Linux becomes more popular the more an antivirus would be a good idea. At this point in time Linux users have been doing O.K. without an antivirus or using ClamAV or ClamTK. It would be wise to come out with an active scanning Linux antivirus especially since Microsoft is becoming more and more i...
