If that happens, one should just restore the system backup they made before installing potentially damaging software!
Everyone makes backups, don't they?

Re: Plasma 6
I just tried installs of KDE Neon and OpenSUSE Tumbleweed to have a first glimpse of Plasma 6. OpenSUSE Tumbleweed most definitely seemed to be the better of the two - no crashes whereas Neon had several during a short session. Plasma 6 is not a profound change from Plasma 5, more an incremental one...

Re: Optimus notebook - nvidia driver does not load
You probably need to use NVIDIA PRIME Render Offload to run applications on the Nvidia card - https://wiki.debian.org/NVIDIA%20Optimu ... er_Offload

Re: Turn on kernel PREEMPT and check if CONFIG_PREEMPT is set on a 4.19.24.RT kernel [Solved]
Thank you for clarifying that. I've seen some mention of it being implented on other distros (centos/RHEL) so was curious if MX had done something similar. However I think in the 5.12 and later kernels it may have been added as an option so that now IT IS changeable at BOOT time ON ALL DISTROS. Sin...

Request increased image post size.
I was just dismayed to find an image I posted at 960 x 540 was removed and replaced with a link. I had resized it to 25% from 3840 x 2160 to not be intrusive on a forum page. Yes I know (now) the forum rules say 640 x 620, but that rule was made in 2010 when screens were much smaller. I request that...

Re: Too bad about debian...
Debian with KDE Plasma looks rather elegant to me: https://i.postimg.cc/8cXQrYRz/screen-2023-06-26-23-26-25.png Moderator: Image changed to link, please read the forum rules Where did you get this great background picture from? It actually came up in the Plasma "Configure Desktop and Wallpaper...

Re: Trying to get working 6.1 kernel on MX 21 [Solved]
Tried to temporarily set CPU speeds and gov'nr, but looks like maybe something is missing in the kernel: $ sudo cpupower frequency-set -d 800mHz -u 2000mHz -g powersave -r ... Liquorix kernel doesn't have powersave governor. Use ondemand instead: sudo cpupower frequency-set -g ondemand # to switch ...

Re: Package Installer has Alpha version of Audacity [Solved]
Just a heads-up that the Liquorix kernel defaults to performance CPU governor so runs it at maximum all the time. You may wish to adjust that. There's a package called cpupower-gui which allows you to switch governors to something like powersave or ondemand which use less power and generate less hea...

Re: Liquorix kernel vs liquorix metapackage [Solved]
@MXRobo I never really left. It's just that I use Debian as my main system these days and only have a side install of MX, and spend most time on Debian forums. I do still stick my nose in here regularly. It's nice to hear good feedback, especially from a fellow Biggy Rat fan.

Re: Liquorix kernel vs liquorix metapackage [Solved]
I recommend to not use the metapackage if you use proprietary Nvidia drivers. Occasionally it will bring in a kernel update and the available nvidia driver will not build and graphical desktop will fail to initialise.. Eventually nvidia driver will have a new version compatible with the new kernel v...
