Re: shouldn't MX disable the hibernation button by default?

I suppose didn't. Maybe I'm talking of something different than the thread starter? My laptops go to sleep when I close the lid. Greetings, Joe Then you are likely suspending to ram and not hibernating. I use suspend all the time, but haven't tried hibernating since I don't see much value in it per...

Re: Which kernel image for MX (16 amd64)

Try blacklisting the evbug kernel module in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf. I would then start with a fresh boot and watch the files to see if it helps.

Code: Select all

#evbug
blacklist evbug

Re: Which kernel image for MX (16 amd64)

Lets try and figure out what is filling up those files. Are there alot of repeat entries? Maybe the below command will shed some light.

Code: Select all

tail -n20 /var/log/syslog

Re: Which kernel image for MX (16 amd64)

It's not uncommon for less experienced users to create a "FrankenDebian". This happens when they start mixing packages from different repos, ie. stable/testing/unstable, finding random debs online and installing them or using PPA's. Although Ubuntu does come from Debian they are quite diff...

Re: Thunar refreshing file display eg. DVD contents

Good question, guess I just hit F5 to refresh, like in a web browser, and haven't thought about it much. Would be nice though if it wasn't necessary. Edit: I'm currently at work, but does MX have either fam or gamin installed by default? If not you could try either of them and see it is helps. https...
