Gnome-Web-Photo (Option For Shutter)

I have been gone a while and am pleased to see that Shutter is back in the MX Package manager. Is there any way we can get one of the optional dependencies, gnome-web-photo, as well? Shutter does a lot of things well and one of its unusual features is the ability to capture as a single graphic a &qu...

Re: MX Linux on Chromebook

I converted three chromebooks several years ago, placing an Acer and a Toshiba that were x86 based on MX, and an ARM-based Asus flip on Kali linux. I was very pleased with all three, but I haven't done this recently so I have no idea about current model chromebooks which would work well. I too have ...

Re: Samba on MX19.2

Perhaps W10 does not let smb1 work even if you enable it? Acccording to this page, that is exactly correct- Windows 10 does not allow SMB1 https://www.theregister.com/2019/07/09/samba_sans_one_smb1/ And i can't find the link I saw a moment ago, but seems like I read that Vista was the first to intr...

Re: Samba on MX19.2

Thanks for the clarification, DO. BTW browsing and connection to W98 and XP both work fine from MX18.3, so 18.3 is my main daily OS until the defect in 19.2 is cured. But isn't it working in 18.3 because you're using SMB1, which is what is being discussed as being leaving you open to the hazards? I...

Re: Samba on MX19.2

I follow the samba discussions when I can because I too use samba in 18.3 in a number of my machines. I appreciate swamprabbits perspective but I also have a use case that I really want to continue using. My reason for posting this is to try to understand the issue to its logical conclusion. If I re...

Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies

Ok after deleting through synaptic the updated versions (the black list above), and reinstalling the debs which I had saved when I first installed dockbarx after my Mx19 upgrade last year, I am back to fully working again. Now is a good time for me to explain to myself why I never took the time to s...

Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies

The first (Iighter) is what I show in Synaptic on my 18.3 machine which is running dockbarx without any issues even after the latest updates:

And the second (dark) screenclip is what is installed in my now-broken Mx19 after the update:

Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies

I am not sure what I can do next other than restore from snapshot. In case this helps someone, I've had no issues running the older version dockbarx in 19.3 for many months. In this older thread Swamprabbit pointed out that the only real issue in using the old version code was that it was doing a ve...

Re: dockbarx has unmet dependencies

I'll do what I can to help sort this out, but for the moment I am preparing to restore from a snapshot to get back working in the meantime. I saw the forum post at Facebook but I didn't read close enough to see why something new was being moved to the main repo. I do see that the Dockbarx Preference...
