Re: MX-17 to MX-18 update testing

Okay, thanks. For me it now sounds like it will be the same. So I'll go with MX-17.1 and upgrade later. You could also think of the update to mx18 as part of that support. My thinking was, if something is different and can't be upgraded later without a new install e.g. Kernel, it won't last as long ...

Impressive. Now with system encryption and flatpaks it's getting better and better.

Re: MX-17 to MX-18 update testing

Thanks for the answers. My system is 64-Bit. One CVE is open because I need a Microkernel upgrade. I'd like using the newest kernel I'm able to use. My question has the background that MX-18 may be longer supported if there is a difference to MX-17.1, so I have to decide if I wait or not. If MX-17.1...

Re: MX-17 to MX-18 update testing

I just want to be sure that I got it right: There will be an automatic update from MX-17.1 to MX-18? When I use the dev repo I'm just a bit ahead of what happens anyway? Or I maybe need an additional Kernel upgrade later, but that's all?

Re: MX-18 beta 1 feedback

Hi, I need to decide what to install. Has it any disadvantages to install MX-17.1 instead waiting for MX-18. Since there is no new Debian.
Also, can someone who tested MX-18 beta as a new install please point out how the system encryption per installer is working now. Will boot be encrypted?

Re: Full disk encryption

MX-17.1 has only Home folder encryption option. You mean the installer, I'm talking about doing it myself. However, my questions might also be relevant for why the installer uses which option. Full disk encryption is going to be in MX-18 which is going to be released before the end of the year. Goo...

Re: Full disk encryption

Hi, I'd like to encrypt my system. I'd like to have as much as possible in one btrfs-filesystem in different subvolumes, so I don't need to decide about the size of the partitions and I can easily make backups and having rollbacks of the system. I'm reading a lot through the Archwiki . However, I'm ...

Got this error here, Python3 seems generally to be a bit cut down, there's no pip either! >>> help() ... To get a list of available modules, keywords, symbols, or topics, type "modules", "keywords", "symbols", or "topics". Each module also comes with a one-lin...

Re: MX-17 Beta 3 Feedback

Is it working without problems to update from beta 2 to 3 or final after beta 2 has been installed? I updated from MX-16 to MX-17 (live distro with persistent home) and got some grafical problems (e.g fonts and no transparent background in terminal). I'm not completely happy with the visual options,...
