Re: DNS suggestion

No networkmananager installed on my antiX system, so someone should verify whether this restart command is correct: ` gksu service network-manager restart ` Paste the code below i...

Re: MX apt-notifier question

During betatesting, I wondered the same but didn't mention it. How to resize the window? (cannot, AFAICT)
Can the app be modded so that the window IS resizable? If not, the UI might at least display the path/to/logfile where user can later review transaction details.

Re: boot screen quiet or scrolling over a background

Here, you can see where live-init calls fbcondecor into action: https://github.com/antiX-Linux/Live-initrd-1/blob/master/init#L1213 and, in /etc/udev/rules.d/90-fbcondecor.rules you can see that `splash-term --auto` is invoked. /sbin/splash-term is a bash script; you can examine it in a text editor....

Re: Why MX Linux is my favorite distro

The small size of the user base (as compared to Ubuntu) would make it hard for me to use on computers that I give away. Re: Desktop Icons and functionality Disappeared - help!

(just an idea -- I'm unsure whether this is a valid troubleshoting step)

Create another user account & login using that account to determine whether or not that user's session is affected also.

Re: boot screen quiet or scrolling over a background

to show all messages over this splash ? Yes, achieving that is "complicated". grub's job is done when the "scrolling messages" are displayed during init. The init output is displayed to "console"; console natively has no ability to provide background images. antiX (and...

E: Unable to locate package xfce
this suggests you just forgot to sudo apt update prior to attempting the install

Re: Problems with copy-paste/root terminal

Something is wrong the arrow,
given vague "clues" like this ----^
troubleshooting will probably be impossible.

suggest: Start over. Remove whatever piecemeal xfce components you had installed,
then install the xfce metapackage: sudo apt-get install xfce

Re: Problems with copy-paste/root terminal

here's a possible cause: a clipboard manager is not running on user's system, and after performing "copy", but before attempting to paste... ...user closes the app from which the text was copied. another (common, but unrelated to mouseclick) reason people think "copy/paste in terminal...
