Re: How-to convert antiX to an XFCE4 based Distro (tutorial)

Is there a simple way in Antix to only change the Menu to something else that includes a "search box" ? (and leave the rest the same) I meant something like MX's without the need to change the whole DE. sudo apt install kupfer It is a finder/launcher that provides a search as-you-type filtering. He...

Re: Defining the jump from noob to Linux User

when I visit github. I have no idea about the site, or the terminology it uses. I've been meaning to sit down, and learn how to use the site. Just haven't done it yet. It was my last visit there which prompted my question. I think that if I learned, and understood how to use github I would be much ...

Re: Mozilla Hardening And Enhancement Guide

. "any way one could get rid of that InstallDateTime string?" As a practical matter, no. "installDateTime" was intended as a generic term. Timestamps are stored into (sqlite databases and) multiple prefkeys, the most suspicious of which (IMO) is "browser.laterrun.bookkeeping.profileCreationTime". Wh...

Re: Mozilla Hardening And Enhancement Guide

app.update.lastUpdateTime.experiments-update-timer ...set to 0 [default is 1550012645] The value represents an event timestamp. Zero just serves to spoof "ain't never been updated yet". Zero or otherwise, the value conceivably could serve as a fingerprinting trait... but that would provide pointles...

Re: MX-18.3 Bare Server Edition respin

An item for the server discussion thread: speaking as the person who made this, my first MX respin, I wouldn't recommend using MX Linux as the basis for a mission-critical production server. I would, rather, use a distro that's intended for that use and has a track record of security, stability and...

Re: Live USB with persistance

3. At the boot screen - choose F5 and chose "Persist_Static" Hey! Can someone elaborate all those F5 options? What each of ("persist_all", "persist_root", etc...) those mean? During legacy BIOS liveboot, the boot screen displays Press F1 for Help Below, I'm pasting a (possibly outdated) copy of tha...

@skidoo: that was a bit curt, especially without pointers to said previous discussions.

Re: Do any of ya'll play the free Linux games?

Sparky, look for 'em listed within synaptic (not MXpackageinstaller).
If you found a game title of interest, for instance "ballz" mentioned on the webpage, search in synaptic to find your ballz
