Re: Is it possible to create a live usb MX18.2 with _persistence_ WITHOUT any linux (pre)installed on the hard drive?

This is a rare occasion where quoting back the entire post seems necessary, in order to preserve context. is it possible to do so * from within Windows 10? 1a) download + install the rufus utility from https://rufus.ie 1b) download MX Linux iso 2) use rufus to create a bootable pendrive (click, clic...

Re: XFCE Menu Frustrations

MX User Manual
Section 3.2.9 Menu Editor

It's a tool designed for end users.
Hearing "changes don't stick", sounds like the sysadmin hasn't yet copied the customized entries from ~/... into the /usr/share (and/or /tec/skel)

Re: What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

PSA: the correct spelling of the name "systemd" is all lowercase openrc First of all, OpenRC is absent from the list pasted in my earlier message because by design, OpenRC does not an supply "init" ~~ it just provides a service supervision suite (note the highlighted wording within the gentoo.org w...

Re: Installing fonts?

https://wiki.debian.org/Fonts If the instructions therein are not exactly applicable, please post back to mention any points of confusion/difficulty... then those points could be covered in a future MX wiki page. FWIW, the MX User Manual (PDF) does have a section (a few sentences) regarding "Adding...

Re: What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

Interesting that there is no sysVinit analyze-blame, at least I don't know of such a command and have never needed one for MX. The bootlog contains millisecond-accurate timestamped entries. If you're interested a graphic-y report, visit https://mxlinux.org/wiki/system/boot-parameters/ and search in...

Re: What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

PSA: the correct spelling of the name "systemd" is all lowercase The poll mentions 2 init alternatives; I'm posting to remind that, across the linux ecosystem, many alternatives exist source: without-systemd.org wiki Alternatives_to_systemd SysV init the traditional Linux System V init date of lates...
