Re: Want it, with MX-18 on it

But for me , I love refurbished Dell laptops. Full warranties and almost always at 50% discount. Ok so I'm 'frugal'... hmmm, maybe that's cheap. :bagoverhead: And Dells come with Windows. That's a problem System76 runs into. I'd say well over 90% of MX users dual boot Windows, and they want it that...

Re: Want it, with MX-18 on it

I own a System76 box which I use for music production and midi control. The NUC I7 this Meerkat is "built" upon is available for less, of course. And you can get it with a blank lid so you can customize it with your own brand. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GX69JQP/?coliid=IK8KUBYX5I03D&colid=2AIKQRT...

Re: Which software/apps do you use most on MX?

It's a total myth that Linux is for hackers and developers. I see Dolphin uses QT-Creator, but other than that, no one's mentioned Atom, Netbeans, Kdevelop, Eclipse, PyCharm, Wing, or the other heavy-duty IDEs. No test benches, either. No website dev environments. Nobody spends all day in Nmap, Airc...

Re: More testing for VLC 3.0.5?

The "+2" at the end of the ffmpeg version shows that's the version I rebuilt against our current Mesa and libva libraries in to get va-api working for playback, so I don't have any idea why that broke it for encoding. :frown: Ah. Thanks, man. No worries. The gods of linux giveth... and they taketh ...

Re: Conky Helps and Stuff

Thanks, clicktician, but it seems to be limited to only US locations now. I'm not in the US. Clicking on "International forecasts" or "international weather" sends me to an external link: https://worldweather.wmo.int/en/home.html Ooops, sorry. That site seemed a bit limited. I think you'd have bett...

Re: More testing for VLC 3.0.5?

Those that have installed it from the test repo with MXPI say it went without any problems, and it provides working va-api hardware acceleration for Intel GPUs where the Stretch 3.0.3 version is broken because of our newer libva and ffmpeg. Getting va-api acceleration working on Intel involves inst...

Re: Conky Helps and Stuff

Sigh. Just a rant that NOAA has discontinued its service at the end of 2018. I knew it was coming, but it's a bit of a pain to switch my conkies to 1_accuweather_RSS just to display the current temperature, and in the end I just let it display the whole current forecast. When I have more time I'll ...
