Re: KMail - Cannot send
Sorry I missed Rich's comment. I added it to the MX-KDE release from the default repos. And again not my intention to have offended anyone. I found that you now have a KDE specific iso very helpful - and had it not been for this sending issue would have saved me a bunch of time. Thanks for all the t...

Re: KMail - Cannot send
No, certainly not you all, but if you look at threads over this issue on kde and other distro boards this problem has been around in various forms in various upgrades for years. I've had some issues installing kmail in the past but nothing like my current frustration. This has been addressed on kde ...

Re: KMail - Cannot send
Last chance for kmail for me. I'm posting just to update this thread that I just installed MX-19 KDE and after spending most of yesterday trying to get it to send mail can share that this problem has not gone away. It was a clean install on new partitions and I didn't attempt to import anything only...

Re: rsynch and kmail
I'll see about trying synchthing when I get a minute. As to Tims' comment: when I try to use luckybackup on mail dirs everything goes well until it hits the first message file in a cur or new folder. The error generated is: rsync: mkstemp "/media/mark/Lexar/Mail/.e-commerce.directory/Credo/new/...

rsynch and kmail
I have recently taken to wanting to keep the in and sent mailboxes on my home office and work office computers synched. I use lucky backup to synch data files but it turns out that deep in the file structure of kmail a ":" is used in the file name and rsynch as near as I can tell doesn't r...

video phantoms
Weird title I know. But I have been having this problem for a while and can't trace it's origin to anything in particular. I see it most often in libre office which is where I spend most of my time but it happens outside of that environment too, it is just less annoying. What I get is when moving th...

Re: SSDs as backup devices
Thanks all for the input. Oddly, or perhaps not, I trust this site more than tech mag editors. I went with a WD 4Tb HD. I try to back up weekly but (at least with my previous device) keep it off when not in use.

SSDs as backup devices
I need to replace the external HDD I use to backup my /home and DATA and was investigating SSD drives. Having been burned a few times by HDDs going bad the idea of a solid state device is intriguing. My newest laptop has one and SSDs seem to be the future. That said I've encountered a few reviews fr...

Thanks rich. I've got some time, I'll see if I can figure it out myself.
