Re: Need MX-16 Final torrent seeders!

I'm 2 days late but just started seeding. What you guys do for me, I appreciate beyond words. I couldn't run my BOINC Farm (20 machines, 100% loaded, 24/7/365) without you... (flicking cigar while in mouth ala Groucho Marx)...and I barely do it with you! BTW, my Seeder runs 24/7/365 also with the la...

Re: MX Package Installer vs Synaptic

I have a prime example of differences between Synaptic and MX Installer. I installed 'Pipelight' from Synaptic on 3 different installations of MX and none of them worked. They all gave me an 'error' in Silverlight in the Add-Ons Tab in Firefox/IceWeasel. I installed Pipelight on another MX installat...

Re: How important is a live bootsplash or lack thereof?

Thanks for the tips, BitJam. Will give them a test drive.

Appreciate the KMS teaching, too. Very helpful, and now I'm a little smarter.

Re: How important is a live bootsplash or lack thereof?

I cut my Linux teeth on PCLinuxOS. It always had a graphic boot with specific instructions on it to hit esc for text. I liked this. But I will choose pure text over pure graphics any day. I like to know what's happening. But I'm inquisitive. I always wanted to see the text before the graphcs and ins...

Re: A Message of sincere thanks

I think the new configurability of the Whisker Menu is worth a mention. This now makes it the best of the 'Gourmet' menus.

Re: 64-bit rules?

Old is in the mind's eye of the be(h)older. Old is older for old folks. Young folks think that something made yesterday is old. I seed torrents with a Pentium-I 90Mhz with 64M RAM that I built in 1995 for Windows '95. I run a very old version of Puppy on it. As you can imagine, it's slow, but so am ...

Re: Changing what happens when you press the power button.

The Power Button's behavior is also configurable in the BIOS. Whether the OSs Power Manager overrides the computer's BIOS setting is unkown to me. However, I know it doesn't change it. I have multiple computers, and each seems to decide on it's own whether it will obey the Power Manager or the BIOS ...
