Re: What have been your best/worst computer deals?

When my eldest daughter was in the early stages of founding her company (Policygenius.com), her first business purchace was a Lenovo X230 that was to be her road warrior. After 5 years it booted to the blue screen of death and she bought a new X1 Carbon. I told her to mail the X230 to me as I like t...

Re: MX-19 Beta 1 Feedback

I had already installed Palemoon, maybe it's not "seen"? Also, I installed additional theme engines and they did not show up in the window manager...

Re: MX-19 Beta 1 Feedback

Just 2 quick things. Settings menu did not scroll. And the other issue is trying to uninstall Firefox. When you select Firefox to uninstall it then marks Firefox ESR, if you unmark Firefox ESR it marks Epiphany, if you unmark Epiphany it marks Konqueror. I just want to uninstall Firefox and use my b...

Re: What would be the easiest to play 8 bit games on MX?

The SNES9X emulator used to be in the main repos. I downloaded a copy of the .deb file long ago for when/if I need it again. To play NES games, Nestopia works very well..

Re: Backup Linux system

I know it's a reinstall, I used the word transition to indicate moving to a new system. All I wanted to do is share a method to move configured systems that don't have a snapshot capability - as almost none do. If someone finds it of value that's great if not, no harm no foul...

Re: Backup Linux system

The recent kernel issue "killed" a number of systems and I don't like to keep all my eggs in a single basket. If something bad happens to MX during the transition to MX-19, I will have a system to use until it gets ironed out. I have no plans to change my daily system unless something bad happens. A...

Backup Linux system

MX has been my daily driver for several years and I'm happy with it. This being said, with the big changes on the horizon and the nasty kernel issues I decided to have a backup system ready to go. Debated on what to use and decided to keep it simple and use the latest Lubuntu LTS. Downloaded the lat...

Re: What init system do you use on MX, the default (sysVinit) or systemd?

I use whatever the default is for any Linux system I run, I could really care less what init system is used as long as the computer boots and behaves as it should...
