ThinkPad X120e users should use antiX over MX

While I wait for my next used full-sized Thinkpad to arrive, I had to dig out my Thinkpad X120e, the only functioning computer I have for the moment. It's not a netbook but intermediate in size between that and a full-sized laptop. But the X120e is nevertheless only soemwhat better than a netbook in...

Re: MX Distro for "not new" users

But I got the feeling that they feel that once new users become more experienced running Linux on MX, they should be moving on to something else. I want to keep in mind that your suspicion of them may or may not be true; but if it is, such a feeling on their part--that experience demands you should...

a strange problem with the GUI video sliding

Since it just happened a little while ago, I should mention an odd problem I have had at random times for several years. I do not know whether it's properly an MX problem (because MX is my only distro), an XFCE problem, my computer's problem, or something else. I use various Thinkpad Txxxs (T61, T40...

Re: "Raleigh" theme makes volume meter invisible [solved]

Yeah, that solved my problem. I like MATE's "Redmond" theme well enough.

I understand you can't easily get rid of the unworkable Raleigh option, but perhaps you could gray it out?

where is the old-style "my/your posts" button? [solved]

Sorry, what happened to the "your posts" button I used to click? The forum controls seem to have been modified. Now the only way I have found to get to my posts is user Control Panel--->show your posts. I don't like that layout and was happy with the old one. Has it just been moved somewhere I haven...

Install the package

Code: Select all

mate-themes
to get a few more compatible themes.
Thanks, installing it.

Okay, fair enough. These responses indicate that yes, Raleigh simply won't work. I'll find something else.

Re: "Raleigh" theme makes volume meter invisible

All the other styles seem to make the panel and the title bars too dark or too light.

"Raleigh" theme makes volume meter invisible [solved]

I have been experimenting with appearance themes, and what I seem to like best are the "Numix" theme and, in Appearance, the "Raleigh" style. Unfortunately, "Raleigh" causes a problem: in the Volume window (and possibly in other windows I haven't noticed yet), the meters have become invisible. Scree...

Re: problem with desktops' backgrounds getting mixed up

Hmmm...I unexpectedly solved my own problem, but I don't understand why it happened. After realizing that this is happening only on a certain desktop, I tried changing the "color" setting to see if anything would happen. It was set to "transparent," although I don't remember selecting that. I set it...
