I did find out some issues; first need the things the xystray.c script is looking for all those #include <X11/ files. Simple maybe in April 22, 2016 when it had it's last update. According to compile it. Only works or at least tested in FVWM. Pulseaudio is in Alsamixer but not in pulseaudio volume control where it used to be an option for Jasper Lake. Not familiar with the Jasper Lake Card. To follow up on the GUI pulseaudio-equalizer panel. To make it work with your audio. You have to go into your Audio System Settings and look for FFT based Equalizer under Playback devices and check-mark it. To able to use those GUI controls with your audio using the GUI pulseaudio-equalizer panel.

The one I always use has been pulseaudio-equalizer. My guess may be Conflicts or to keep it Stabilize.

I just ran into two commands I didn't know about. You can play with them and maybe you'll get an answer.
