Thanks for heads-up Paul. Have not been working with WINE recently, having retired from supporting a craft group based on a Microsoft application. Used the Codeweavers commercial version for a while. Will look again at WINE. Latest release is 3.2

From personal experience, there is no "might not" about deb-multimedia, leaving this repo enabled is a first step to future troubles.

Have updated to 6.0.1.1, it is mainly a bug fix for 6.0. No problems as yet.

Leaving the multimedia and/or test repositories enabled can cause real grief to unsuspecting users. It is acceptable to enable them briefly to download a particular
package(s) but be sure to cancel the enablement immediately afterwards.

That you have to do a power down reset on modem, router and computer seems odd. Have you tried resetting only one at a time.
Also, can you hard wire them and not rely on wireless connection?.
