Re: How many people using Windows 10 in here?

Never used Win 10. Have a copy 7 on my backup desktop, looked at it a couple of times but do not use it.

Re: CONKY and Radio amateur radios

Basically it is a good idea, but find myself supporting JayM's comment that Conky is not ideal for this. Most of the hams in this part of the world are running Windows, in fact the only ham/Linux OP that I know of locally is a guy I met through Linux, he became interested in amateur radio through my...

Re: Failing on-line connection [Resolved not fixed]

Re bios update. Looks interesting thanks Jay, pity they are a bit vague about the NIC changes Will download it and hold until I get thru' the present phase of document recovery, have about 500 pages (files) to complete 1952. That's a week away, before I try any fiddling with the bios. There are a se...

Re: Failing on-line connection

Further tests with MX18.2 produced exactly the results. If the Dell is started from cold is does not make the Ethernet connection to the router. A restart does connect normally. THis happens regardless of the time delay before restart. Have left the computer turned off but connected to the mains pow...

Re: Failing on-line connection

Thank for the suggestion Andy. I have tested the cable before, but just to be sure have done it again right now with different cable and router port.

Result exactly the same, will not connect on initial start, but switch off the Dell then restart, boot-up and connect is OK.

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Pale Moon Browser Thread

This desktop is not exactly new, I have replaced the power pack and installed an SSD as sda, but the operating system is dated
October 2009. No issues at all with all versions of MX since the beginning. Currently MX 18.2

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Pale Moon Browser Thread

As you were running 28.4 previously, that nearly disposes of my thoughts about a new installation. I have been running Pale Moon ever since it became available, my early version installations were from Synaptic but 28.5 and the 27.* versions were definitely from the MX repositories. Thinking...........

Failing on-line connection [Resolved not fixed]

I suspect this is a hardware problem, this request is to see if anyone else has had the same/similar. Running MX 18.2 on a Dell Optiplex 9010 in a dual boot configuration with MS Windows 7. MX is using a recently installed 120 GB SSD, Win7 remains on the original HD and is rarely used. Grub setup fo...

Re: MX 17 Repository: The Pale Moon Browser Thread

Pale Moon 28.5 installed here from Utah mirror and running without problems. It was installed as an update to PM 28.4.
Are you installing 28.5 as a new complete program. Any dependencies missing perhaps in that package only and were present
in 28.4 or previous packages ?
