Re: Site describing MX as a 'product'?

I can see an argument for a more informative menu tile (eg. resources), notwithstanding that MX is the product of many contributors and individual efforts, produced by such collaborative efforts. Producing a driver's license or enjoying home garden produce as the product of one's own efforts.... I b...

Re: Net Neutrality rumor

In Oz Fibre to the node (FTN) or wireless broadband is the latest rollout over existing copper/ADSL networks* (*until recent decades, singly government owned and run). Without the commercial history or networks in N America where cable tv took off, simple net speed is a contemporary local focus. Ahe...

Re: MX-17 Live USB unable to create persistence files during boot

I always do a test boot with a Live USB without persistence, then use the GUI Remaster tool to create the desired partitions. It also provides some feedback that the partitions are being created and an opportunity to select rootfs and homefs sizes and how saves are made eg 1. Automatic... Then I reb...

Re: Multi-boot Linux installation - some questions

I've gone from Mepis and chain-loading Grub to now relying upon Grub Customizer to tidy up a simple grub menu and default boot, occasionally changing the background image when the fancy takes me. I do try to install grub to root with a new install, something I can trust to go smoothly with MX and An...

Re: Need an Usb stick fomatting tool in MX17.

I would agree that a simple and reliable USB formatting tool is desirable, and would further enhance an MX live USB's troubleshooting and diagnostic potential.

Re: MX-17 Snapshot live persistence - Conky time [Solved]

I created a general snapshot of my (64-bit) MX-17 install, then created a live USB. Upon booting to the live USB, I created root and home persistence, setting time to my location (plus general desktop tweaks and a Synaptic update). I notice after a reboot that Conky still shows the incorrect time a...

Re: MX-17 Snapshot live persistence - Conky time

Toggle Conky did not change things but MX Time Settings did, once the local time zone was entered. I only set the Orage Clock once I'd created persistence and booted up again, but I gather you could have several regional times displayed this way, without changing the system time. I thought things ha...

Re: TP-Link TL-WN822N wifi dongle on MX-17

Update - I just installed MX17RC1 and got this working and it initialised at boot (once at least) and works with NetworkManager this time. Basically the same steps: - build and install the driver with dkms - blacklist rtl8xxxu by creating a blacklist file in /etc/modprobe.d/ - reboot - configure wi...

Re: MX-17 Release Candidate 1 - Feedback

Take two for installing and all looks OK so far. I suspect the NZ repo might not be up-to-date yet, and switched to LA again.
/etc/grub.d/10_Linux is 12.4KB
