Thank you, kinfocenter reported KDE 4.8.4. Then found I'm running M12 as reported by /etc/issue. I think 12 is still in beta as 11.9.86 but issue reports 12.

Before trying the KDE 4.6.5 upgrade I'd like to identify which version of KDE 4 I'm currently running. How is KDE version identified?
