Re: What are your favorite sports to watch - and why

Watch less and less as time goes on. Same here. I still follow sports quite a bit -- reading articles, checking standings and stats -- but I don't sit and watch nearly as much as I used to. And I don't like to pay to watch anything anymore. Do more listening on the radio than watch on TV because th...

Re: Debian Buster release today!

I am not a developer, but I know the finals usually come out at the end of each year. Thinking along the same lines here, although I suspect that this time it'll come out somewhat earlier than in the past. I've been using two Buster installations, both done while Buster was still in Testing. One wi...

Re: Any other readers here?

It is often said that one has but one life to live, but that is nonsense. For one who reads, there is no limit to the number of lives that may be lived, for fiction, biography, and history offer an inexhaustible number of lives in many parts of the world, in all periods of time. --Louis L'Amour I l...

Re: Countdown from 100 -> 0 --> #1 (last 12 months)

The "We're #1!" boasting is mostly a turn-off for me. A high ranking at DistroWatch may be nice for exposure, but I don't (and can't) take it too seriously. I don't recall a time when the #1 ranked distro at DW was the best fit for me, and some of the ones I've enjoyed the most have never came close...

Re: Any other readers here?

I have to say that my paperwhite kindle has turned me from an eager reader to a voracious reader. I am on my 64th novel of 2019 already. It is amazingly helpful with vision problems. And to me, the feel of the unit is close 'enough' to that of a real book. Good to know. Some people like that sort o...

Re: Any other readers here?

I've slowed down a lot, after vision problems and eye surgery about 12 years ago. I get through about a dozen books per year now, more or less. But I remember my mom being in a "Book of the Month" club years back, so I guess I'm doing okay. Reading books is still probably my favorite thing to do -- ...

Not me.
Me, either, and I prefer a default installation with no games included.

Re: The "Tiny Panel Bar" thread

A variation on the MX standard layout. I guess you could say that, but I've been using a vertical panel like that in Openbox, Xfce, and KDE since before MX came into existence, I'm pretty sure. What does that setup idle at in terms of RAM use (baseline)? I don't know, but the machine I'm using has ...

Re: The "Tiny Panel Bar" thread

I like the tint2 panel for Openbox. Lately I've also been using a vertical, left-side tint2 panel in Fluxbox, instead of the Fluxbox toolbar. The toolbar can be set to autohide, but I simply made it disapper: Configuration > Toolbar > toggle "Visible". Also I had to remove "systemtray" from the foll...

Re: Who runs MX from USB and why?

I may be thick but I have yet to hear why as I really don't see a USB system will be faster/better than an installed system. About the only use I can see is as a portable system I can use on computers that I don't own. Never use any computers except my own so I have never seen the need for a portab...
